EIU Raising Their Average (The Apple Debate)

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

Actually, I found an article for this. It's about Enron, and bad apples. I dunno, I was just trying to find something about bad apples not actually spoiling the entire lot, but I found this. Does one bad apple spoil the entire bunch? (by Tom Mitsoff) - Media Monitors Network

And for what it's worth, bad apples only ruin apple sauce. Or pies. Not all of the other apples.

I see your poor example for this situation and raise you one that is more pertinent:

uweek.org | Rotten to the core: How workplace 'bad apples' spoil barrels of good employees | University Week, Vol. 24, No. 17 | University of Washington

Re: EIU Raising Their Average

Burns, please stop posting or at least think before you post. In case you forgot we did lose to 2 MAC teams ourselves last year and a I-AA.

If you are going to talk smack at least make sure we didn't accomplish the same thing by not being able to beat bad football teams.

Wow, Monty provides the humor and one of our own calls him out for it. Keep posting Monty, most of us love it!

Yeah it is real humorous giving a fan of a rival crap about losing to a MAC school when we got beat by 2.

But carry on and make yourselves look like idiots if you want.

This is an outstanding article! I agree 100% and the only logical conclusion that you can come to is that the bad apple(University of Iowa football) isn't going to ruin the reputation of programs like Michigan, Illinois, Iowa State, Oklahoma, USC etc.-not all football programs are full of thieves, sexual predators, and uncontrolled alcholics.

Well if you want to get that technical, apples hanging from the tree are working alone as an individual unit, apples in apple sauce or pies are meshed together, working as one unit...kind of like a team concept:wink:

Right, but let's say you are the apple picker. Would you blame yourself if when you picked the apples to make your apple sauce, you accidentally picked one with a worm in it?

I mean, if you picked these apples up of the ground, and knew they were rotten, then you shouldn't be an apple picker anymore. But just plucking them from the tree after quick inspections (because you have to have that apple sauce made soon!), you'd never know until it was too late.

Apparently, there were some early frosts the past few years for the Hawkeye Apple Tree.

If the apple picker only makes quick inspections, maybe he doesn't really care what kind of apples he picks?

Apparently, you don't have much experience in the apple picking business. There are time constraints, and if you take too much time, all of the good apples will be taken.

All of those people who have abandoned this thread (rightfully so) a long time ago are gonna be a little confused if they just click on page 4

But if my livelihood depended on the quality of the apples that I picked, I think it would be good for me to learn to pick good apples quickly, if speed was important. Or, maybe hire some people that are good apple inspectors, thus giving each inspector more time to find the quality apples.

That is an excellent point, but also throws another twist into it. Now you need to have complete faith in your hired apple pickers to pick quality apples. You, as the head apple picker, can only blame the delegated apple pickers for so long before accepting complete responsibility for the bad apples, which will and should, end your ability to be the head apple picker.
