Amazing golf story

This is the part that cracked me up:biglaugh:

Article in the register today about a man who sank two hole in ones in the same round in Muscatine. 67 million to one odds.

I'm pretty impressed that a 12-handicapper can hit an 8-iron 180 yards. I know I'm just a hacker, but I'd probably be dialing up a 5 or a 6 from that distance. Maybe it was downhill and downwind, that makes me feel better about my game.

could have been down hill... and played around 155 or 160. wind help?

-keep.

Could be that the guy has no short game and will 5-put a green...

I thought that to myself as well. It MUST have been downhill or downwind. Even the longest players I know don't hit an 8 iron that far. I mean I'm pretty long, and if I step on it and hit it pure, I hit my PW 145-155, 9 Iron 150-160 and 8 iron in the 155-165 range. I hardly EVER swing that hard, though, because there's just not much accuracy in it.

My usual 180 club is a 6 iron.

My first thought was that he bladed his 8 iron trying to swing for the fences. Anyway he did it he will remember that round for the rest of his life.

thats all luck if he shot a 78 with two aces

Hole-in-ones are about 98% luck in the first place. There are plenty of low-cap players out there that have never had one. The main reason most of those guys have one in the first place is because to get to be a low-cap player you have to play a lot, and if you play a lot, you'll get lucky at some point.

It sure helps to reliably put it close to the pin, though.

A 78 with 2 aces isn't THAT bad. It's an 82 if they were pars. Depending on the course that isn't a bad score. I know what you are saying though.

I know that guy, and I don't particularly like him. That is a really easy course. It's still a great achievement, but that guy coaches our arch rivals team, and has been kicked out of a couple of my basketball games as a fan. He's also a big Hawkeye fan. Just saying.
It still is pretty good accomplishment though.
