Remember Calvin Godfrey

Calvin Godfrey is a starter for Memphis and his body has filled out appears to be a solid player.

Ive watched 4 minutes....dumb play led to lob with 1 second on shot clock, then didn't box out at all...allowed a putback on next trip....then he got benched.

Whenever I see Josh Pastner I aways think of the actor John Francis Daley. Maybe it's the hair...

He had 4 fouls at the time...but how dare I have the nerve to bring a logical fact to refute your argument. :jimlad:

If I recall I saw something on ESPN about him recently as Memphis played against UCONN.

He chased down a guy on a fast break, went for the block and about put the guy through the hoop pad.

Personally I thought it was just great hustle and didn't think he hit him on propose but things got pretty chippy.

I remember getting "benched" by angie for "insulting another poster" back in the day when I was arguing that Godfrey had some talent, but that baggage made me think that he was going to be a bad fit in Ames.

According to the sub-genius I "insulted", Godfrey was going to be the second coming of Jeff Grayer and I was just trashing a GMAC player for no reason.

we never know how he would have turned out in Hoibergs system. From the way he played his freshmen year, indicators are that he would have been a better player under us than he turn out to be. Not that he is bad now, he's not.

Memphis and Pastner are a joke! They recruit pretty well but have been garbage for a while.

They did make the tournament last year and won their first game before losing to Virginia. I do not think they are the garbage pile that you do.

Anyway, I think Calvin could have turned out to be a pretty good player here; he certainly showed flashes of potential. Hopefully he's got his head on straight now

Good gravy he was a big boy when he was at ISU!!! I really liked his toughness and wished he could have stayed out of trouble. His toughness inside would have been nice against some of the bigs at KSU, TX and BU.
