First time going to the Big 12 tourney (way overdue).

Trying to figure out where to stay. What have people had success with before? Power and Light are pretty much booked at this point. Do people stay out at the Plaza? Somewhere else?

Plaza is an easy cab ride away (don't drive to p&l) if you can find something at crown center, it's closer than the plaza and still nice. Those are just places I've stayed at on trips to KC. For the tournament, we always stay at the Marriott downtown but that place books in a hurry.

How nice of a place are you looking for? We've stayed in a couple spots with good accessibility to downtown. Perfectly fine hotels but not on par with Crown Center or nicer downtown hotels.

I have a room @ Sheraton (team hotel). Prolly won't stay there. If anyone wants a room on Saturday, let me know so I can move my reservation over. It's pretty $$$ though.

Just cancelled 8 rooms at the Best Western Seville on main. About 3 miles from sprint center. A lot of ISU fans will stay there.

I stayed there last year. Pretty good and they offer a free shuttle to the Sprint Center so you only are paying for a cab in one direction. Also closer to Westport and Kelly's if you want to check that spot out.

Comfort Inn just NE of the Sprint Center for two nights, and then Sharaton at the Plaza for the last two. We're doing all games baby!

You might want to try booking your rooms one night at a time. As teams get beat (ideally KU) some fans check out and go home. Last year we ended up at the Ambassador for Friday/Saturday nights for just over $100/night.

A group of us are staying at the Westin. I'm trying to decide which monocle to pack.

We have been incredibly lucky over the years. Family and friends live minutes from Sprint Center and house 10 of us each year for the week for free. Huge savings in money!

I know there are some places in the Plaza area or Westport area that may have some options. Just find a place, even if 15 minutes away. Book it so you have that as a last option but keep looking around the area of Sprint Center. Sometimes things open up.

We stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Merriam that's right on I-35 (off of 75th St.) and only about 10min from the Sprint Center. We get a special corporatae discount for $80/night, but normally they're like $100/night. Just booked rooms last night. They have great size rooms, clean place, pool, nice hot continental breakfast, and more. Plus the all the area hotels have a free shuttle to take people down to the Sprint Center like every hour or so. We just spend the $20 and grab a cab to go there and back. Easier that way than paying $35/day for parking.

We like to stay in Liberty. Nice area there. I am not crazy about staying in the city and so we just drive in to the Sprint Center and then back out every day. Put the ISU flags up on the day drive which is a lot of fun. A large (state?) park close by and usually go there to drink up some sunshine when the weather is like last year. For health reasons we don't drink as when we were younger, so the driving is not much of a problem now. Just plan our travel outside of rush hours.

What motel in Liberty. We stay at the Hampton Inn.

Called the other night and asked about shuttle - answer was that they will only be running shuttle Friday and Saturday after 4:00.

Downloaded Uber to my phone and will probably be using it for trasportation

I just called last week and got a hotel room at Hotel Phillips for both Friday and Saturday night. I don't think the price is too bad, but then again we are going to cram 5 people into a suite.
