ISU 12th in new AP

The two games we won this week were games we were supposed to win. Most national voters would see it that way, only Big 12 people and ISU fans see those road games as what they are worth!

This. The committee uses RPI as a major factor in seeding. They don't use the AP or coaches' polls at all. That's all you need to know.

and we are close to securing a 2 seed. Pretty darn close to locking down a 3.

what a ******* joke. there's no reason ND WSU or UNI should be ahead of us at this point.
Except for:
Total wins
Conference wins
Road wins

A 6 win team that is 4-4 on the road (not counting neutral court games) and lost to Texas ******* Tech, in the top 10 would be a joke.

EDIT: ISU is 4-4, not 4-8. They have played 8 road games. Stupid Panther education.

Won't matter come tourney time. I was thinking 11 yesterday jumping wsu but like people said on here if you don't lose you don't move down. For the most part anyway

Actually we were underdogs in both games but I see your point. The teams we beat were well below us in the conference standings.

I know it shouldn't really impact seeding at tourney time, but isn't it realistic to think that the AP ranking, even if only sub-consciously, effects seeding by the committee?

Let's say UNI wins out. They may end up ranked 5-8 if they run the table and other top 10 teams lose, because obviously the only bearing on AP ranking is win and you go up, lose and you go down. If you are on the committee, and UNI deserves a 4-5 seed, does it creep into your mind that 4-5 seeds should really be ranked 16-20 and a top ten team should be more like a 2-3 seed?

UNI lost to Evansville who would get waxed by Tech...so what's your point

Look, I know you're a UNI fan but that doesn't give you an excuse to be an idiot. Two teams from a crap conference being rated higher than ISU is the real joke. I know you have to take bad losses into account but you're totally discrediting good wins. Which UNI's only good win is the team right behind them who's only good win is freaking TULSA.

Gonzaga is the real fraud

I posted this in the thread yesterday on this topic, Gonzaga is 4-1 against the Top 50 with their only loss @Arizona in OT, Arizona is 5-0 against the Top 50 (but has 3 losses to teams between 51-100).

I could see arguing that Gonzaga should be 5th or so, but calling them a "fraud" for basically playing the same schedule strength as Pac12 or B1G teams is harsh.

B1G has 2 teams ranked.... tough conference.

You know we lost to one of those teams right? Yea it is fun to hate on the B1G but Maryland is looking great this year and Wisconsin obviously does as well. E!SPN isn't talking much about the B1G this year for a reason, why do we have to? Just to hate on Iowa? We're obviously in a tougher conference and a better team, let's focus on our conference right now.

Yep. Here is why UNI or WSU won't get a 2 or 3 (and maybe not even a 4 seed):

RPI Top 10 - combined 72 Top 50 wins. Or an average of 7.2 per team.

UNI - 1 Top 50 win. WSU - 1 Top 50 win.

I'm fine with rewarding both teams in the AP and coaches poll because only losing 2 and 3 games, respectively, is no easy feat. But those stats won't go unnoticed by the committee in 3 weeks.

Welp. Texas was gunning for #1 this year.

I have no issue with UNI being ahead of us but WSU is a little harder to swallow. UNI would beat a lot of the same teams we have, I truly believe that. WSU on the other hand, they've proved they wouldn't. We have six losses, UNI has 2. It's not their fault they haven't got to prove it. Many basketball voters see a very well-rounded team in UNI. If we hadn't lost that TT game we would be comfortably in the top 10. Let's just take care of the Bears on Wednesday.
