Marty is second only to Gary Rima on the annoying radio people in Iowa scale.
You forgot our good buddy Dolph. I'd give Rima an edge on Dolphin though and that's saying something.

I turn it on in hopes they might actually be talking sports. I avoid it on Thursdays specifically because of the beer discussion, good gosh can you get more boring? Talking about beer on the radio?? I suppose those other 3 home brewers that are listening are really entertained though.
I like the beer segment. Gives me ideas of new beers to try.
I would completely support this decision. Jay turned traditional sports talk on its head in a good way and he's a fun listen. Way better than almost any other sports talk show.Nope - time to bring back Jay Mohr!
Rome is a **** but he isn't the scum of the earth. That's why he is successful. That style also really only works on a national level too. Otherwise if it is done locally all it does is **** off every fan base.

This is my issue too. I really don't want to support someone who is, by all accounts, a pretty bad person. Especially when they screw people out of money again and again. Combine that with the fact that he blatantly makes things up to get people worked up and its not my kind of "entertainment". Which is too bad because I've listened to Ken for many years and continue to do so from afar.
Keith Murphy mentioned on Monday's "Murphy & Andy" show that they made the same decision for WHO-TV's Sound-Off -- fewer callers, more analysis from the hosts. Why? Because the viewers SAID they wanted to hear more takes from the hosts and less callers.
I don't think Ken is sexist. He knows what listeners want to hear...Iowa/ISU. NFL is usually fine year around...NBA/NHL during playoffs, golf during majors, and anything that is breaking news. He is a fantastic interviewer and asks good questions. Most of his guests understand to give longer answers.
I think Ken got fed up with KXNO waiting forever to give him a co-host, and he had probably planned to join with Marty even before he heard about Heather. I truly think he would have been fine with her, but he has great chemistry with Marty.
I enjoy the Morning Rush most of the time. Honestly, after an ISU game, I get most of my content/analysis breakdown from CW, Hines, ect....so by the next day I don't care as much for in depth analysis.
Don't get me wrong, that earlier comment was tongue in cheek. I don't understand how people listen to some of the shows, but certainly I'd support guys like CW and Blum.
But I've never been much of a talk radio guy, I'd rather listen to some music on the way home after a hard day.
I can understand this from a non-UNI fan how Gary would be annoying, but I'm not so sure what the problem is. The dude is passionate about his school and it shows through his commentary. Even in down seasons he brings enthusiasm. He's knowledgeable about the sports he covers, the players and coaches from his school and from the opponents.
You could be right, he just seems to bag on women whenever he can. Just my opinion.
This move comes at an unusual time, since Miller began a new program Monday with Heather Burnside on KXNO (1460 AM).
Miller, who told KXNO officials Tuesday he was leaving the station, said he wanted to make clear that his departure was no reflection on Burnside.
“This is not about Heather,” Miller said. “It really isn’t. This is about being at a point in my life, where I’m 56 years old — if I was playing golf, I’d probably be walking off the 15th green — and I want to finish with Marty what we started.”
I don't even drink and I find the "Beer with Bruno" segment one of my favorites.

On the bright side, does this mean that um, well, Kent Silversteen is not going to be "interviewed" again? that's a positive.

Stick to your Keystone Light. It's a great segment for people who are interested in craft beer or people who are just getting into it. They talked about Oskar Blues a little bit today since they entered the market this week. I guarantee a handful of people stopped by HyVee and grabbed a 6 pack of Dale's because they were curious about what they had heard.
