KRNT Reuniting Marty & Miller

Hopefully Travis Hines can appear on 1350 too, because he is an excellent ISU resource on the radio. As mentioned earlier, hopefully they can continue the Monday segments with Settles and Sullivan.

People still listen to talk radio? And local talk radio at that?

Yes -> it fills the gaps between CF podcasts.

Weirdly yes, love the podcast too, but whenever I'm in the car or work truck that is what is always on my radio. Even to the extent of listening to Garman and Cotler when they were on, I'm kinda embarrassed to say.

I think that the show will move more towards Murph and Andy but with less callers/fan interaction. At least that's what I hope. A little more personality with the same great interviews.

No, CW just goes on stations around the region multiple times a week to promote this site on shows that have no listeners because he has so much free time on his hands.

I listened to Garman and Cotler too and was sad to see it go. Between "Out of Bounds", "Murph and Andy" and "Miller and Brinson" it was a solid 6-7 hours of local programing.

The joke is on you if you hate Marty. Yea, he's a ******. That's the point. Don't take him so seriously and you might find him more tolerable. He's funny and makes for good radio.

KXNO is laughably bad at personnel decisions. They don't know their audience and can't recognize talent (or more often, a lack of talent).

They really do need a true Iowa State fan (not of the Deace variety). There are several Hawkeyes (Ross, Travis, Downs, Sears when he's on) and zero Cyclones? Come on.

Downs seems like a good guy, but his voice gets on my nerves. Burnside is a joke and it has nothing to do with her gender. She's hokey. Brinson was hokey. That only works for the 50+ crowd. KXNO couldn't have done worse.

Marty and Miller are great together. I'm looking forward to the reunion. Any idea when they start?

Does 1350 still air Cubs games? It'd suck for M&M to get preempted by that garbage.

I think Miller did better without him. The two are good together until they start yelling at each other about some stupid topic.

If Marty was so good he could get a better job that bounce around Des Moines sports talk radio. Marty has his good days and his bad days.

I'm sounding like an old guy here but back in the day local sports radio was so much better. Deace, martymiller, etc. just tore it up. I rarely listen to KXNO any longer. I will check out KRNT.

I liked Ken when he was on his own. Marty can be entertaining, but he is a legit crazy person. And he's acted like a complete idiot during the media events he has been at in the last year or so.

I thought after Brinson left Miller said on the show he was not teaming up with Marty again.
Regardless, they are a good duo. Reminds me of the Hazzle Dazzle skits about the two of them.

To be clear, I have no inside information, but its seems pretty obvious what happened here. When Ken announced Heather would be his co-host, I was somewhat shocked. Not because Heather is bad, shes not, but because Ken seems to extremely sexist. FWIW, I like Ken as a radio host. Ken would always very nonchalantly bag on the Hey Tana show..go look at one of his last tweets. While I agree with him, that show has sponsors, I would assume it has callers, and I would assume it has been a success. So for someone who is directly involved in radio bags on show that does what it is supposed to in the radio industry, to me, you're against it for another reason. He also refuses to ever talk ISU women's basketball and kills it the second it is ever brought up.

So to me, Ken wanted, and probably begged, KXNO to rehire Marty. I honestly cant blame him as the two are good together, and Ken is not far off from retirement and wants to finish his career with Marty. Ken probably nixed every host KXNO offered and KXNO finally said too bad, its Heather. I found it a tad odd that Ken took a weeks vacation like he did last week right after Heather was announced, but Im assuming he was not happy and needed some time to think.

Hopefully Ken was somewhat upfront, and didn't completely screw Heather over as she quit her gig with KIOA to go to KXNO, but the way this all went down, I doubt thats the case. If so, I will have lost a lot of respect for Ken.

My guess is that Ken & Marty was working on this for last month. Ken had vacation to use and wanted to use it up before quitting. Plus he probably had show up the first few days after the holiday to get his holiday pay. I doubt Heather had anything to do with it, though Ken does seem to be a little sexist at time about women and sports. Heather needs to team back up with Round Guy. Round Guy was the original host with Murph on Sound-Off.

I don't think Ken is sexist. He has said before that talking womens basketball makes people turn the dial, and he is right.
