Illinois getting blown out by La Tech, who is led by a qb that left Iowa because Ferenz had him buried deep in the depth chart. Their qb, Cody Sokol, was born in DM and his mom and uncles grew up in Ankeny for any of you central Iowa guys. He looked better than Iowa's qb's.

The fact that Illinois is even bowl eligible tells you all you need to know about the difficulty of the big10

I thought that Cody Sokol named sounded familiar for some reason.

Illinois is the 6-7 win team we would be if we played in a bad division of a weaker conference (opponents like Iowa and Toledo most weeks). LaTech is probably also the team that would beat us in a bowl after we finished our bad conference slate.

Yep, I totally agree.

Illinois could have easily won that game. They blew it big time. Dtackle was running a fumble back for 6 to take the lead late in the fourth and fumbled it back to LTech who then scored a TD and blew it open late. Illinois had that game, or should have.

Given our history in bowl games I wouldn't talk to much. We have sucked which is putting it nicely.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. Illinois is a TERRIBLE football team. Nearly as bad as ISU, but yet in the horrible B1G conference, they managed to win 6 games.

ISU versus Illinois would be a close game IMO.

Wow, looking at their wins this season really says a lot.

Youngstown State
Western Kentucky
Texas State
Minnesota
Penn State
Northwestern

Then again, that's the same number of wins against bowl eligible teams than a certain other Big10 team we know.

Nothing says Big 10 like Rutgers coming through to save face for the B10 this bowl season

Indiana the last place team beat Mizou at Mizou-the SEC Divison champ. Also Mizou didn't have a ton of turn overs.

Lots of average teams make bowls. FYI- The B10 is not favored in any bowl game this year.

Big Ten bowl record is always bad because they get matched against awesome teams like 6-6 ACC squads ranked #63 in Sagarin.

How did UNC get bowl eligible with a pathetic defense like this?

We were not a good team and our defense was a joke by the end of the year...but something like a third or fourth of these bowl teams aren't good at all either. UNC and Illinois both look every bit as craptastic as ISU today.

Getting to 6 wins in the Pac 12 or Big 12 is more meaningful than it is in other conferences. 6-6 in those leagues puts a team in the top half of FBS football pretty much without fail. 6-6 in other conferences...you have to check that schedule to see how they got there, even SEC teams with their 4 non-conf slots and wacky 14 team league byes.

Well I picked unc but lowered my confidence points before the game. At least everyone at the top in the bowl pickem group took UNC too. I knew I should of switched my pick.

Give it time. Rutgers and Maryland will recruit down to Big Ten levels soon. Took a while for Penn State to get their suckage on, too, when they joined.
