Dejean Jones

He's only the first to f up if he did something wrong in the eyes of Fred. A simple drug test should tell the important story. If he wasn't smoking he's guilty of being a *******. If he was smoking then he deserves to be suspended.

Who will bond him out? I hope he has enough contacts that someone would be able to do so. I don't think the University can.

As for the OWI comments that OWI is a lesser charge (serious misdemeanor) than this charge (which appears to be an aggravated misdemeanor), that's not always correct. An OWI 3rd or more (at least third conviction) is a Class "D" felony and subject to up to 5 years in prison. An aggravated can be pretty serious though.

Also, in respect to the person who assumed BDJ lives at Fredrickson Court, he doesn't according to a citation I read listing his address. He lives close to the practice facility.

Stinks, if true. However, less all of you forget, he is innocent until proven guilty.

Nader and Thomas got OWIs --- putting their own lives, and the lives of others at risk -- and received 3 game suspensions.

You guys on your "high" horse are telling us he deserves 5 games for allegedly letting someone smoke pot at his house?!?!! C'mon!

Are you the same people that wanted Leonard Johnson kicked off the team for a late hit his freshman year?

If you get two for an OWI (serious misdemeanor) I would expect him to set the rest of non-conference for this (aggravated misdemeanor).

I feel like hosting a drug house just sounds horrible but if he was selling he would have got charged with possession.

"hosting a drug house" makes it sound like he had a drug distribution ring... this is not the case. He would have been charged with 1) possession, 2) intent to sell, 3)paraphernalia?, 4) some made up drug tax sticker violation, 5) and there would have been a photo on the front page of the RAG showing bags of pot that Ames' finest took off the streets.
Yep...sounds really bad. But it isn't one of the huge ones. The problem might be that he has a big enough problem that he is not careful. I don't want to know how many athletes smoke. And I don't because they keep that **** hidden, as God intended. I suspect bdj will remain on team. I suspect that he will be followed by a staff member for next 3 months.

I don't think you would like the results if you randomly did drug tests on student athletes.

He doesn't have to get bonded out. As soon as the judge comes in and he can plea they will release him.

Yeah if all it is was people smoking in his house, that is a complete joke. He should be starting on Friday. What THomas and Nader did is much worse.

@ROBWGRAY: Just spoke with someone at the Story County Jail. He said Bryce Dejean-Jones is still detained there. Total bond is $1,600.

I doubt it. My opinion is, if he didn't smoke it, possess it or sell it he won't be suspended.

Yeah, if this is the case, it's really a non-story. A college guy had a party and someone there was doing drugs. I'd be willing to bet that it was the alcohol that got the party busted, as the potheads were probably occupying the hell out of a couch.

Pot lasts in your system more than a couple of days. If you drug test him that doesn't mean he was necessarily smoking up last night.

Regardless of "everyone else does it" or if you think it shouldn't be illegal, he got caught breaking the law and that's the stupid part. Who knows the long-term situation, but there is no way he plays tomorrow.

I hope someone judges you harshly when you are accused of something. You've probably never been in the public eye, but it can be very unfair and the story lopsided.

Don't jump to conclusions without the facts. For you to make judgments, at this point, like the one above in is unfair to this young man without more facts than unsubstantiated rumors flying around in an anonymous message board thread.

Twitter is starting to run with the story.

Best guess on BDJ: At a party where marijuana was used. Often that charge is used when not enough evidence to charge intent to deliver.

As someone who knows how bonds work (shhhhhhs) $1,000 means it is much less serious than say... $5,000. Time will tell, Fred will do what is right, and justice will prevail.
