Big 12 Left Out

This wasn't that hard of a solution to begin with.

6 team playoff. 5 Power 5 champions + 1 at-large. 1st round byes for the top 2 seeds.

As flawed as the BCS was, at least they attempted to create a system that took human bias out of the equation. The playoff is going the opposite direction.

You are assuming fairness is a criteria that the NCAA uses. The Big 12 has to figure out a method despite the NCAA's unfair system. And not hope for that NCAA will transform into using a fair selection system.

When corrupt/incompetent officiating gave the Baylor/TCU win to Baylor, who was perceived to be the best in conference at the time, they really just screwed the Big XII out of a playoff bid.

Gotta feel for TCU in this situation. Their only loss of the season was against a top 10 team on the road. Let's not pretend that result was totally legit either. Sure they blew a big lead, but without ref interference favoring Baylor they probably would have won and been an undefeated team in a top 3 conference. They blew out almost every team they played(besides OU and Kansas).

Not to mention a few years ago both they and Boise got screwed by the BCS who relegated them to play each other instead of letting them prove themselves against a BCS level program. They finally move up to a big boy conference and learn it's not about your affiliation, it's about your name on the jersey!

By ESPN's own metric, OSU had a worse Strength of Record(Record against SOS) than both TCU and Baylor. But oh my goodness did they impress in that last game of the season, so they deserve it!

How can you have a 'national' playoff and leave out the #2 ranked conference for a team with a bad loss?

12 committee members...
3 of them are former coaches/players or are currently paid by Big 10 schools.
4 of them are former coaches/players or are currently paid by SEC schools.
1 of them is a former coach/player or currently paid by a Big 12 school.

It's hard to be objective when your school (and maybe yourself) could be making more money by voting for a school in your conference.

If Texas had TCU's resume, they are sitting at number 2 or 3 right now.

Baylor tried cupcakes nonconf and TCU played a decent nonconf. Neither worked. Pretty obvious we need two more states with eyeballs to the league.

The co-champions argument is BS. Why would the committee not just consider Baylor the champ since they beat TCU? The Big 10 had co-champions for years and they got teams into the championship game. I don't know how the other conferences can label a "true champion" when they don't play everybody so the schedules are uneven. There are alo ties within divisions that are settled by head-to-head tie breakers, which is not different than TCU and Baylor.

We all know that if it were Texas or OU in the same positions as TCU and Baylor, at least one of them would have gotten the nod.

Forget all of the talk. This is about money and ratings for ESPN. Period. Even their analysts who said that the best four teams got in and then turned right around and said how lucky Alabama is that they don't have to face TCU or Baylor! Lucky?? It is freaking rigged so that the SEC wins this thing. STFU about the non-conference for Baylor. I have not heard a peep about the three cupcakes that Alabama played...

Don't really know why there is a shared championship. TCU Baylor have same records but Baylor beat TCU so Baylor should be conf. Champion. Not that it matters since OSU took care of business against Wisconsin.

The only real problem with the Big XII is that teams outside of Texas and Oklahoma are paying the best football. Take a look around the country, the big name schools are dominating their conferences everywhere else. TCU, Baylor , and Kansas State were all to notch teams this year but had the wrong name on the front of their jerseys.

As far as I'm concerned Bowlsby is acting just like Bebe although without being in Texas's pocket.

The Big12 needs to get a championship game back if they are planning on staying at 10 teams. Otherwise, we will have to expand with two teams. Obviously, expanding is not a popular idea, however I can see this "co-champion" BS happening more often than not. I can even see our champion being left out completely if its not OU or Texas. If TCU, Baylor, or Kansas State wins the conference outright this year, do they get in?

All I heard for months in the media is how the Big 10 won't get a team into the playoff at all. This started on week 2...now suddenly they have a team. I'm not convince that Wisconsin didn't take a dive the whole game for Ohio State. The Big 10 needed Ohio State to beat Wisconsin into the ground, and magically it happened. Third string QB and all.

Still as big of a joke as the BCS. How does the B1G represent with such a suck *** overall conference that doesn't play everyone in their conference. Regardless of the Championship game, that conference is weaker than the Big XII by a lot.

Can we have the BCS computers back, please?

Right, b/c having Oregon left out for an Alabama-FSU championship game would be so much better!

The computers always favored the Big 12 so our teams could rely on the in-conference schedule strength but that advantage is gone. Time to man up and schedule some decent teams OOC.

The names don't matter one bit. The resumes are what mattered.

To be honest I really have no interest in watching any of the playoff games since there is no conference representation but I'm sure the playoff committee took that into account knowing they didn't want to leave out the conference with most eyeballs.

I contend that if the Big 12 had a championship game Ohio State would still have been picked over the winner. The tv bigwigs would not want Baylor or TCU. Money talks and there is more money with Ohio State.

Yep, they would have come up with another excuse. This one we just laid in their lap. Does anyone really believe a 1 loss Notre Dame doesn't get in because they didn't play a conference championship game?
