Short Taggart article

He was saying there was lack of discipline? LOL

I believe this confirms what most of us suspected, that the lack of discipline was the main reason for WM's dismissal. It would be interesting to know if JP already had knowledge of the defections from the team. This would have been a reason for him to act so quickly.

Gotta feel good for him. He found a great fit for him and look where he is now.

His team won more games this year than we have in our last 2 combined.

I agree. Hard to believe he would have made it to the Championship game at Iowa State even if everyone would have stayed.

Talk about a smart move. Instead of playing middle-to-bottom of the pack Big 12 basketball he's playing for the title and may (key word may) have a look at the NBA.

Although I initially had a bad taste left in my mouth towards Taggart due to his attitude, effort, etc. at Iowa State. I am happy for him now. Memphis style of ball is a good fit and Calipari seems to be a good fit for him as well.

So player do like discipline. It is very interesting he was going to leave before Morgan got let go. 4 players chose to leave in Morgans last year very interesting. Maybe JP knows what he is doing after all.

I think a lot of you need to read things more closely. He said "it's more disciplined" at Memphis than it was at ISU...not that it was lacking discipline or undisciplined at ISU.

By the way, I thought that Morgan got all the players together when he was canned and told them to transfer...I have heard it from many reliable sources on this thread!?!?

I think this is what I would have typed if you hadn't already. I never liked Taggart when he played here, but I watch him play for Memphis and it's clear that something changed. Calipari is obviously a better fit for him than Morgan.

I have no hard feelings towards Taggart. He didn't bad mouth ISU up and down on his way out. He simply transfered and is now playing for in the championship game.

How can you not like someone his freshman year who knew what he may look like his Sr. year @ memphis. It just reinterates the point the Morgan never produced a disciplined team and was a big reason in his firing. Its pretty bad when Shawn says that there was no discipline in the ISU program, being that while Shawn was young he didn't show any enthusiasm and was often times a little lazy while playing. He looks alot better now and I have no hard feelings.

Wayne, shouldn't you be installing my cable dish instead of posting on CF.

You should know by now there aren'y that many reliable sources on this site. But I was one who said WM probably counseled the players to leave, he was quite bitter, and I still think that may be a fact. While we are beating this dead horse, what kind of team do you think WM would have put on the floor without Stinson, Blalok, Taggert, and Carr? PG Degand, Sg ?, C Thompson, if he would have come without GMac, PF Hubalek, Sf Clark. 10 wins, I doubt it. All in favor of retaining Morgan under this scenerio?

Taggart has been a solid contributor for Memphis. My main beef? That ridiculous t-shirt he wears under his uniform. Those things should be outlawed. This applies to you too, Mr. Garrett.

Taggart stayed long enough to listen to McDermott. I was under the impression that he didn't like McDermott's style of discipline. I was under the impression that Taggart said a cuss word in practice and McDermott told him that was not allowed in his practices. Taggart wasn't used to being told what to do and left.
