Gary Rima finally get the Hassel treatment

That was REALLY funny. To be honest, I only know Rima's voice from promo's I hear on KXNO, but even my wife (who has has never heard him) laugh out loud watching this last night.

You're lucky you've never accidentally stumbled onto a "peenther" broadcast. Nauseating in a Zabel sort of way.

Nauseating is right. And he really does a poor job of helping the listener visualize the game, which I think is the measure of a good radio guy.

Believe it or not, I think one of the best "local" radio guys in terms of helping you see a basketball game in your mind is... Marty Tirrell. I remember being shocked the first time I heard him doing pxp. Very smooth and descriptive.

No. Tools serve a purpose.

Rima's coverage of this team he loves is indeed painful. Your most famous call in what was at the time one of the most exciting games of the tournament should not sound - not only scripted - but literally read off of cue cards. It was as if a dog show announcer accidentally walked in on a basketball game.

He's the most unspontaneous announcer I've ever had to listen to (once, while driving).

I wonder if he prerecords his broadcasts.

To compare yourself to "Giants win the pennant" or even let others do it for you in an official capacity is off-puttingly pretentious.

Vollyeball shorts rank higher than yoga pants on the foodchain of cuteness, btw.

Best part about not living in Waterloo anymore... sports radio down in Texas doesn't include Rima... that dude was obnoxious and one of the main reasons why Panther fans felt an inflated sense of entitlement.
