How many redshirt freshmen do we have? And how many have we had in previous years? Does this bode well for the program? Without checking the numbers, it seems I hear the term redshirt freshman a lot more this year. It would be nice if we were playing juniors/seniors, but isnt that to come in the next couple years? With all the talk of cpr and his continued employment at isu, I have to think player development is getting better as far as having that extra year some of these players need to compete at this level. Thoughts?

Knott, Klein, George, all played their first year as true freshmen. We would have had Knott and Klein last year and George this year. Redshirting freshmen is huge for a team like ISU.
As far as Defensive Line is concerned, we have had great attrition. Besides Coe and Irving we lost Bevins and Pompey. That is 4 interior D-Lineman right there.
At safety we lost Charlie Rogers. And we have lost some Linebackers as well. All those misses hurt.
I'll also add that Leonard Johnson would have been a senior in 2012. I think 2012 had 5 all conference defenders as is. Would have been a damn good defense.
