Bubu

Hope it works out for BuBu. He and Fred kept their mouths shut and handled this lousy situation with a lot of class.

Bubu would be a great fit in Omaha. They need more help for thewir team and they have a coach who has a playbook and the Big East is now midwestern.

Grant Gibbs got a 6th year after voluntarily sitting out a transfer year. The precedent that the NCAA has set is that there is no precedent.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up somewhere in Florida. That's where his serious girlfriend lives.

Gibbs was a much different situation than Bubu. He missed one year with an injury, then was injured and could not have played during the transfer year that he sat out. Bubu - zero years missed with injury, Gibbs 2 years missed with injury (with one injury year also a transfer).

Believe me if you want, but I have heard from numerous sources that Bubu's transfer waiver will be approved, if it hasn't already. And his landing point you ask? Creighton. Posted this for anyone who cares. Believe what you want, this is what my sources inside the team have said, FWIW. Wish him the best, and thank him for his 4 great years as a Cyclone.

I don't believe it. First we heard that sources said bubu would be back on the court as soon as he was reinstated. Then we heard he need to work out more and he would be playing. Then how Fred was not playing him because he was afraid of the administration. Then bubu was a lock for playing in Europe. Then bubu said he was not playing so he could go after a sixth season of play. (then why did he want back on the team so badly) Good luck to him, but I'm very skeptical of your story. I expect he will be in the summer league in Des Moines once again.

If McKay has to sit out a semester for practicing with Marquette, wouldn't Bubu too, in which case his battle to get back on the team but not play seems weird?

I'm not telling anyone to believe this, people can believe what they want to. I may very well be incorrect, I'm just saying what I have heard from people with some "in" on the situation is he will be at Creighton next season.

On a side note, I hope it does work out for him and wish him nothing but the best.

Assuming the court case results in the decision that Bubu was wronged that is a very good reason. I don't see why that wouldn't be a valid reason to get the eligibility. Nobody knows what the NCAA will do but I don't see how anyone can say that he doesn't have any valid reason for the waiver.

Bubu has been at Iowa State since 2009/2010. He was a redshirt walk on freshman with LA Pomlee, Laron Dendy, etc. Seems like he has been in college forever

Count me also as being very skeptical.

The 6th year exemption is normally only granted for a player who missed two complete years due to injury. In Bubu's case he missed no years due to injury. He sat out one just as a redshirt and then missed another basically due to suspension.

To grant him a 6th year would be a huge modification in previous NCAA policy.

Also I'm not sure the Creighton administration would be in favor of this. It's a little difficult to imagine a University President approving a player that another University President had tried to bar.

There are examples of guys getting more than 5 years to play 4. Religious missions and military service are the obvious situations. The NCAA will at least listen to an individual case appeal. Oklahoma once got a 6th year for a guy who didn't go out for the team one year because of emotional stress.

Bubu can probably put together a good case for appeal and I doubt if either ISU or the state BOR will get involved in trying to hinder him from playing somewhere else. As far as Creighton, if Dougie McBuckets wants to see his former teammate get a chance to play another year you won't see anyone try to stop it from happening.

I think Bubu can succeed, and I hope he does, but at the same time the only thing that fits for him at Creighton is Greg coaching.

Creighton looses 4 seniors, but they need front court players. They already have 2 players, Brooks & Chatman, that are the exact same as Bubu. Either of them would have been in Iowa St's rotation this year, so they have talent at the PG spot.

Getting betrayed by a university you love must have sucked. Good luck Bubu, I wish you the very best with McDoormat.

Can we still debate about him being on scholarship or not after he leaves?
