Ok..so the ncaa brackets have rules about teams that have played each other not meeting until what round? If I understand correctly..no more than 2 teams per region could be from the same conference? Which would leave one of Baylor, Osu, or WVU out?

Generally they try to avoid rematches until the Sweet Sixteen. That's in the bracketing portion though and wouldn't affect how many teams from a specific conference get in. I've never heard of only 2 teams from each conference in each region, but that wouldn't make much sense as the old Big East routinely got 9+ teams in which would be impossible were that a real rule.

Teams from the same conference may not meet prior to the:
*Regional final (Elite Eight) if they played 3 or more times in the regular season/conference tournament
*Regional semifinal (Sweet 16) if they played twice
*"Third" round (round of 32) if they played once

If possible:
*Rematches of non-conference regular-season games should be avoided in the round of 68 and round of 64
*Teams or conferences will not be moved out of natural region an inordinate number of times (using prior two years of brackets)
*Rematches from previous two tournaments should be avoided in the round of 64

This is good stuff... I've never seen this spelled out. Just discussed by the talking heads

Re: The question about no more than two teams from the same conference being placed in the same region — that used to be the case, but it was changed last year:

Committee changes bracketing guidelines

Mainly: The previous guidelines did not allow more than two teams from a league to be in the same region unless nine or more teams were selected from one conference. This has only occurred twice in the history of the championship (Big East with 11 teams in 2011 and nine in 2012). Under the new principles, each of the top four teams selected from a conference will be placed in separate regions, only if they are seeded on the first four lines. This replaces the principle that separated the top three teams from a league regardless of the teams’ placement within the bracket.
