I don't do much shopping at HyVee because the stores now cost upwards of $20 million apiece. I understand coolers/freezers can be expensive but when 75% of your store should be metal shelves, something is wrong.
They have to recoup those costs somehow (by charging more) and I'm not going to contribute that much to it.
HyVee's in my opinion are over diversifying but it gets people in the doors.
I can be in an out of Fareway/Aldi's a lot quicker and cheaper for most things.
That much building by itself isnt cheap though either.And they can make up for most of it by increasing the volume of stuff they sell (which they do), its not like the average hyvee is selling the same amount of stuff the average fareway is.
A new aldi is coming into the jordan creek area though, may drop in there from time to time for smaller trips.
