Messingham needs to go!

Oh, dear heavens. Just freaking STOP!

Again why stop? The product sucks, and Mess honestly doesn't have a freaking clue. Its apparent to any football fan that has half of any sense. Our talent on offense isnt this bad. Iowa has been burned all year on deep passes. We didnt see many until about 6 minutes left in the game... He has no clue on how to effectively set up a run game. He blames running backs for not working hard, and gives them 5 carries at most. Bundrage should have had 6 touchdowns today. And not to mention we were running zone read plays still with a QB who was too injured to run per the head coach.

Agree. Wimberly definitely needs more touches IMO. And I'm almost wondering if we need to see some Rob Standard or something as well? Isn't he a bigger more powerful back? I'm sick of all our RBs dancing around while Weisman just pounds it for nearly 150 yds.

And if we went into the game knowing that Richardson couldn't run the ball, then why run the zone read at all? If we were going to play Richarson, we should have just let him sit in the shotgun and sling it around all night. Might have been our only shot, especially when the biggest weakness on Iowa's defense is by far their secondary.

Nealy is big and fast... Per my eyes, he is the best runner we have by far, but gets 1 carry. Stupid.

If I could like you twice I would. There comes a point where you have to stop blaming the players and work with what you recruited.

"Sam needs to make big plays."

"Sam doesn't make the right call at the line."

"Sam isn't healthy enough to make the plays we call."

Guess what *******, you don't go all in when you have a 10 high either. At some point you have to develop a strategy that works. Yours doesn't work.

Hopefully they've already fired him at halftime.

They should have. I would have most def come out the 2nd half and called the plays myself as head coach. NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM should our OC be calling plays again, ever. Or we can keep sucking for a few more years and then make the change. Either way the change will be made, make it now.

What ticks me off more is that Wally had the defense playing a lot better and well enough to win today easily. If our offense even had an avg game we win by double digits. Just a waste of everyones time.

A huge issue is they try to run everything within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Maybe they run one WR deep. Most pass plays the WRs run slow stop routes 5 yards down the field. Its like a bottled up cluster ****. There is no reason for a safety to get deep.

I'm not on this fire band wagon now, but I might be here shortly. There were several times tonight where the offense just looked inept out there. Its really disappointing as well, because the Big 12 is wide open this year.

Look, I agree with firing Mess. If you are going to do it, now is the time. We have 12 days to break in new play-caller.

But if you look objectively, our FB program is as good (big picture) as it has ever been. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Replacing Rhoads sets us back.

If Mess finishes the year and our O doesn't improve and Rhoads let's him come back next year, I will be HUGELY disappointed. But what do you think is the ceiling of this program?

1. Bowl games are as easy as pie to go to now. Even Walden and Criner would have made them.
2. Rhoads made 3 mediocre bowl games. Got embarassed in 2 and was slightly less incompetent than Minnesota.
3. Our teams in the 70s were 10000x better than this trash.

When your a head coach your only as good as your assistants because they help you win, well mess is just not cut out for it and Rhoads really needs to see this, put the personal **** aside and tell him to clean out his office. I saw just stupid play calling all night.

New rule, anyone that complains about the coaches should coach a game and see how they do.

I'm pretty sure if they let me play offensive coordinator for a game I could have the offense go 3 and out all the time too.

MANGINO !!!
He's a proven winner!

Breath of fresh air. Even if it was only for 1 year

For me, the fact that Rhoads has taken us to 3 bowl games does not automatically make him a good coach. You can win 3 out of 9 games in the conference, and yet make it to a bowl. You can finish in 9th place in the conference, and yet make it to a bowl. Bowls are not what they used to be, and the quality of bowls should also be factored in when judging a coach.

But where Rhoads has done incredibly well is- he's given some of the biggest wins in our history, and he's generated a massive amount of interest in the program. Sooner of later that interest has to be translated to more wins, better recruiting, attracting higher quality assistants, and more wins. That's what taking the next step is about. And right now we're not getting anywhere near there.

CPR doesn't seem to have the fire that he did in previous seasons. The play calling is clearly a joke, or at least was in the first half. Maybe we should let Richardson call the plays.

This misses the point. I'm not saying I could call players better than Messingham. I am saying I have zero doubt there are many, many coaches who would take the job and could call a game much better than Messingham.

He completely lost me on that 4th and 4 call. It could not have been more obvious that Iowa had that play scouted and knew exactly what Mess was going to call. Not to mention, this was after a timeout, where Mess had an abundance of time to scheme a play that would go for 4 measly yards.

...and for those of you who fixate on "not having the players", look on the defensive side of the ball. Wally lost all kinds of talent of defense from last year, and he is at least putting a competitive defense out on the field. Also, look at a team like Texas Tech. They have a new coach and are starting a true freshman walk-on QB. They are 3-0, 5th in the nation in pass yards and are averaging 40 points a game.

You just can't tell me that scheme and coaching can't overcome some talent issues.

Mess is not a coach who will make his talent better. He has two weeks to scheme against the Iowa defense. You know they are going to play 4-3 against you so spread them out. You can still throw short of you want but make them go into a nickle. When they do, then try to run and go no huddle so they cant sub back.

Instead it looked like he was trying to impose our will on hem. Sorry but we dont have the team for that. Need to create advantages schematically becaise we dont have them phyically.
