Recruit Lists v2.0

I realize we probably haven't been recruiting him very hard, but Kevin Zabo committed to SDSU this weekend. I thought he was a pretty highly sought after player, did he not develop as well as others or just overrated from the start?

SDSU is a pretty good program. I wouldn't take his commitment there to automatically mean either of those things.

I guess he could have had some people back off of him, but SDSU has had Kawhi Leonard and Jamaal Franklin drafted in the last few years, and Steve Fisher has a pretty good record of getting guys to the NBA. I think SDSU was a #2 seed a couple years ago, and has been a high-seed in the tourney the last few years. It's a pretty good landing spot.

Darn this. The pickings seem to be gettting slimmer and slimmer. Lost out on Abu and now Moore. RV is, and always has been a longshot. Same with Travis. Who does that leave us? Not being sarcastic here, just curious who our top remaining targets are.

Jaylen Johnson, Tillman, Macura, Cunningham plus RV and Travis

Realistically we're looking at Cunningham, Jaylen Johnson, JP Macura and Tillman with Johnson being our only real post recruit.

I don't think anyone was expecting Moore at this point. What do you mean RV is a longshot? It is going to be a challenge to land Vaughn but we have as good a shot as anybody.

Top targets have to be Vaughn, JJ, Travis, Cunningham, Macura.. About in that order I'd think

Thank goodness we have Mann working Michigan especially since we lost TJ (who was the lead recruiter on Custer I would add).

It will be interesting to see what Doc can bring to the table recruiting wise. Matt A has landed some transfers/jucos, but other than that hasn't had a great run of luck on the recruiting front.

IIRC, there was a recent tweet about Bonzie's probably visits and we weren't mentioned. Until a kid has been to our campus or scheduled a visit, I don't put much stock into their interest.

HOF Invitational - Weekend

couple notes from that

2014 PF Jaylen Johnson - Johnson left the building Friday night with an escalating fever and completely dehydrated. He returned for the weekend games with a milk jug filled with water, and seemed to bounce back well. He showed that he was capable of hitting mid-range jumpers, although he is best at getting to the basket when he catches the ball in the short corner or the high post. He is explosive and can rebound with the best of them. Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State and more have offered.

Almost one hundred college coaches made their way to Springfield this weekend, but the two DI teams that made their presence known most were Iowa State and Oregon. There was a coach there from both of those teams on all three days. For the Cyclones, the Mayor himself, Fred Hoiberg, was in attendance. For the Ducks, assistant coach Tony Stubblefield scouted on Friday and Saturday, while head coach Dana Altman showed up Sunday.... Other notable teams in attendance at one point or another this weekend include Virginia, Louisville, Michigan State, Boston College, Iowa, Florida State and St. John's.
