I don't believe it would be basketball as it stated the coaching staff from 2008 to 2011 and Fred Hoiberg was not the coach in 2008 or 2009!!!

Think outside the box..TJ Otzelberger was also on McDermott's staff and was the lead recruiter for both coaches. Not saying it was him but the possibility is there.

They also made 10 times the calls.

That and they punishment wasnt very harsh.

Three years of what though? Clearly not post-season bans or anything real serious. All three years of wrist-slaps leads to is kind-of sore wrists.

Baylor had over 1200 impermissible contacts (calls and texts) in just over 2 years. ISU is talking about 79 impermissible contacts - only one third of which were by coaches - in three years. This is not the Baylor situation.

Actually Baylor had 1266 impermissable contacts, so in the overall scheme of what was reported in the media, ISU's 79 in comparison to Baylor's amounts to a rounding error.

Never mind that the press release issued by Iowa State -- and published in its entirety by the DMR -- specifically stated there would be no further comment, and that this "news" was provided directly by Iowa State and required no effort from the DMR other than to open an e-mail.

So what does this suggestion of two years probation mean? It looks like a pretty minor infraction and it was self reported, but when it comes to the NCAA and ISU, history would say to throw common sense out the window.
