Could we beat Drake now?

I'm not so sure. But we won't play 'em again (unless by some highly unlikely case we meet in the postseason), so it's useless.

I don't understand what the obsession is with that game. We were very inexperienced then (not that we have a ton now, but much better), dealing with injuries and Drake just couldn't miss. It was the perfect storm for them.

It would certainly be a better game, but I still think they're the better team. They're even winning (over some good teams to boot) without one of their best players.

At Hilton we have a chance against anyone...I think the way our team is gelling right now...very good chance at home. If we played there it would be tough!

Our guards are taking care of the ball adequately. The best thing we are doing is we are not sitting on the ball the while shot clock tuns out as we dribble the ball out of bounds. We would do much better.

Much better, yes, I'm thinking it'd be good game but they'd still come out on top. Drake's a very good basketball team whereas we are still a couple steps away.

I am still not convinced Drake is as good as their record indicates. They are good, don't get me wrong, but they are really weak inside. 2 ?guys over 6' 7" ? And Cox is much more a 3 than a 4-5. They beat Ill. State and S. Ill in Des Moines, but haven't played any of the better MV teams on the road. I think they can win the Valley title, with 4 losses.

Guard play is what gets it done in college basketball. Size isn't a huge deal, especially when every guy on your team is a threat from 3.

I'm all for debate of sport, don't get me wrong. It's part of what makes watching so fun. In all honesty though, to think we'd beat Drake if we played them now, that's Hawkeye talk 101. How many times did we hear that on the Football side of things from them in the last 10 years? And it's probably the biggest thing that sticks in my craw about Hawk fans. Even to the point that in 2001 the people I know who are Hawk fans told me that if we'd played earlier in the year they'd have beaten us.

I'm not against the discussion per-se, but, I do think it takes away from what Drake has done this year. And really all that matters is they beat us when it counted.

I do not know how much Drake has slipped since Josh Young sprained his ankle (say 7 points), but we are 15 points better team than when we played them in Dec. Wesley has unleashed the fire, Rashon is taking shots, Jiri is trying, and Craig does not mind shooting. This takes a lot of pressure off our guards to create a play when the bigs are not afraid to shoot. It makes us more unpredictable on offense. We needed to go to this version of stepping up. Before, BP bouncing the ball down court and getting the ball inside at end of a possession was not cutting it although we did not have turnovers. We are better right now than where we ended up last year.

The home loss to UNI is more damaging to any potential postseason we may or may not have.
