*** Official ISU vs. Iowa Gameday Thread ***

If you would have told me Iowa scores 80 points before the game, I would say loss for us. The defense was poor. Booker needs to get it together or we will have a tough season. 3 fouls in 6 minutes. I had to listen to it on the radio again but I didn't hear any complaints, Booker, you were worthless. You need to play defense and learn not to foul. You are capable of that. Quit worrying about being a scorer. If you play well you will score. Play decent defense!

That was the loudest and craziest carver has been in many of years. You could tell Woodbury and White just wanted this game more. They get the benefit of this being their bowl game in iowa city. ISU was asleep for too much of this one. Inexcusable, Hoiberg has got some work to do before Big 12 play rolls around.

I think their Wisconsin game last year was crazier. This isn't Lickliter's Iowa anymore.

Impossible to win when your best player scores 0 and your team leader has 652 turnovers. We would have lost to almost anyone tonight. I give Carver credit...was a good atmosphere in there.

If Iowa, UNLV and Cincinnati are tournament locks, probably better.

I had Iowa tagged as bubble team before season started ... looked like a Sweet 16 team tonight.

The possibilities (and capability) for quality wins in Big 12 ... not so certain.

Probably better!?

Unless Iowa finishes outside top 100 of RPI, it's wayyyy better.

Anyone doubt which team had the fire in their belly? If I play ISU, I press them all night, we were clueless how to beat the press.

Simply stated, they attacked us and took the game to us. We were timid, uninspired.

I saw both games in Vegas. We looked just like this.

Kudos to Iowa. They kicked our buttocks.

"youre drunk" no offense but yeah

Well that's a head scratcher. We seemed totally lost out there. We didn't play well enough to win but those officials were horrendous :(

well the good news is we played like s*** and lost. If we had played well I'd be worried.

This is an extremely valid point... we are still meshing, this team has loads of talent. .. we just dont play well together yet, that'll just take time.... although I will admit losing to these a**holes is not ok... I think overall we'll be just fine...

It's not so much the loss, it's the way we lost that bothers me. Terrible point guard play, not much team play, getting beat on defense - all of this by a team that is not all that good.

You're right — I didn't fully include the "if ISU wins out in non-conference" part of your post. If it plays out as 3-loss non-conference, last year's losses were (overall) worse.

If it's confidence about the ability to beat a good team (or evidence of being able to do it), I think it's it's fairly even with last season.

start Lucious.

sounds smart, maybe it'll wake him up. Needs a wake-up call

Korie has been playing college basketball for what, 4 years? 5? His game isn't going to change. There will be nights when he hits his fade away 3's, leaves his hand in the air like Wesley Snipes in White Men Can't Jump", and will look great.

Most nights, however, will be like tonight, when seemingly every time he tried to do anything he turned it over. I didn't think he would be great, but thought he would be able to break down a defense, get in the lane and play man to man defense. It looks and sounds to me like he is getting schooled by freshman and guards from mid-major teams. Probably makes sense, if he was really good Izzo wouldn't have let him go.

As for Will, wow, he just seems completely lost. At least make it look like you are trying. So tired of our announcers saying "crosses over, has it knocked it away". Or "pass inside, off his hands". Or "Gesell misses, tip no good, rebound to Iowa, out to White for 3, Good".

The only thing that makes me feel better, other than vodka, is that I felt the same way last year and we got better as the year went on.

Ultimately, I think we will be ok this year, I just really, really hate losing to the Hawkeyes.

If it makes you feel better, you could always ban all of the Hawk posters. (Except for antiAIRBHG)
