The newly restored Jaws is being shown 1 night only in West Des Moines and in Ames at Cinemark theaters.

Thursday at 7PM 0n 8/23/12. Anyone else going? Cannot wait to take my 2 girls....have not seen it in the theater since 1975.

Doubt I'll go, but check out all the work that went into restoring it, pretty impressive stuff.

YOU RANG???

Jaws was on ESPN last night, he was talking about Quarterbacks. Like who has the best quarterback in the NFL, and which team needs a new quarterback. A couple teams can't decide which quarterback is their best quarterback. In order to be successful, a team needs good production from the quarterback position. Fascinating stuff.

Read an article (well, most of an article) on why Jaws was so scary. Part of it is that the shark normally attacks from the right side of the screen. We're conditioned to watch from the left, so it's especially jarring.

Can't make it tonight and haven't seen it since I read the article. If anyone goes, I'm interested to see if that's accurate.

I'm pretty sure it is all of those teeth that makes the fish scary, not if he is left or right-handed...er...finned.

I wish AMC in Omaha would pick up on these. I would love to see some of these classics in the theater. I really want to go see the double feature of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein in October. I'm willing to drive to Jordan Creek for that one.

A few years ago they showed Alien in the theater for the 35 aniversary or something. I had never seen it in the theater so I went to see that.
I also heard they remastered Raiders of the Lost Ark for IMAX.

Sometimes that shark looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a shark is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes.

So, eleven hundred men went into the water. Three hundred sixteen men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945.

Speaking of scary, if you want a scary read, pick up "In Harm's Way," a story about the USS Indianapolis. I like horror stories, but have never had to put one down because it got so bad, or had one invade my dreams. This one did. Horrifying story of what happened to those guys. (Quint is never mentioned....)

One of the few times that it was an advantage to have a mechanical replica as one of your stars. The lifeless eyes were perfect when trying to replicate a shark.

The worst horror stories are the true ones. I have never been able to bring myself to read that one, but feel I must someday.

I'm ready for my whooping. I've never seen Jaws.

Recently a lot of 70's era horror movies have been restored for presentation in HD and I have a bunch on my list to see, Jaws being one of them.

Watched Amityville Horror a couple weeks ago and The Omen last night. The Omen was A little freaky but I didn't find it that incredibly terrifying.

The Exorcist is next, then Jaws.
