Get me lost in Iowa

Holly Springs and Hornick in Woodbury CountyBluffton and Kendallville on the Upper Iowa River. Great places if you canoe. Maysville, NW of DavenportThor, between Eagle Grove and HumboldtPilot Mound, north of Ogden. Had a great drunk there one night as a bunch of us from ISU stumbled into town and were treated to more alcohol by the locals. God bless 'em.

Thor is a good one for this list. Unkie's is a typical small town restaurant. Best part? Instead of waiting in an entryway or outside, you wait in a full bar next door.

Otho, just south of Fart Dodge is worth mentioning only for the Otho Pub and their loaded hash browns.

Well, I drove through Napier after work today, and it was as good as expected. It wasn't a highway that went through the town, but a gravel road. A couple houses, a church, an old school building, and some farming buildings.

Buck Grove - Highest point in town is the highway that passes by it.
Corley - Antique store, community building and "Corley International Airport."

Not sure how I forgot about Fern on HWY 14 just north of Grundy Center. Feed store, 3-4 houses, and an auto shop. They make you slow down to 50 to go through town though and have nailed me.

Luther, close to Ames has a cool old consolidated school house that is super run down. Closed in the 50s. Really wanna go explore it.

from my neck of the woods (NE Iowa) we have Conover, Lima, Donnan, St. Olaf, Illyria... some are literally just a couple of different family members anymore...

Argo, Balltown, Folletts, Montpelier, Moscow, Panorama Park, Atilissa, Sunbary, Fredonia, Fruitland, Laurel ... all basically wide spots in the road. When you think about it, the state's pretty much a bunch of tiny "towns" (many of them dying) with a few larger population centers in-between.

This isn't in Iowa but it fits in the category with these other "towns".

Say hello to Cottonwood, South Dakota.

holly springs. home of my best friend nick steinhoff. RIP.

Lyman, Grant, Morton Mills, and Tenville. All on hwy 71. The Hayloft bar in Grant is one of my favorites. The sign in Tenville reads population 15 I think.

dated the girl from there for awhile

FYP

Actually towns are getting a little big here.

Pretty soon we'll be up to my home town, "The Hottest Little Town for Business in the State" Lytton, IA.

St Donatus! Being originally from Dubuque, one of the only things that keeps me coming home for weddings is knowing that just about every wedding reception will be catered by Kalmes.

St Donatus? How about Tete des Morts?

Ancestors from that area, and Zwingle too...
