With all of Baseball's problems lately (steroids, the list, how much they are spending on players, the length of the season, losing to japan, depression of the cubs year in and out)

Has Football become America's Sport?

I know football is far from perfect..

I was just curious what others thought..

(I think football has taken over)

Growing up, I'd have to say baseball.

Within the last 15-20 years it seems that football has taken on a life of its own. Maybe I'm just more aware of it now. Still, I'd say football.

I know there are plenty out there that disagree.

Today? Easily football. Not even close IMO.

Baseball is a distant second.

Basketball and hockey just fill time.

(I'm speaking mostly of the pro game here. I love college basketball above all)

I prefer basketball - but judging by how many in the US pay attention to the Superbowl, and how many pay attention to the World Series, I'd have to say football is America's sport. I honestly don't even know when the baseball season begins or ends, and I don't know until the WS is all over who was even playing. It's just not interesting anymore.

10 years ago I would have said baseball, but all the problems in MLB have really soured me on the sport. I would probably vote for football, but only for college football, I'm not really a fan of the National Fieldgoal League.

I think baseball is a better game, but there's no doubt that football is the most popular sport at the moment.

It's still baseball.... When you look at all levels attendance is at an all time high. Mid-sized citites all over the country are trying to get minor league, independent league, or college summer league teams. Every single MLB game is available on TV and the World Series still had decent ratings despite an un-interesting match up. Even the Little League World Series had record ratings.

I'm pretty sure I've heard reports in 2005 and 2006 that the World Series had some of the lowest ratings they've ever had.

Baseball attendance is good for competetive teams and those in large markets. Football attendance is good everywhere. The lack of games probably has something to do with that, though.

Yeah, its pretty easy to sell tickets for 8 games a year compared to 82, especially in a place like South Florida where the Marlins play an hour outside of civilization. It's easier to justify making that drive a few times a year compared to a few times a week...

Jeez, no more of this hatred for soccer, please. I hope you all are joking that you won't let your kid touch a soccer ball. Let them do what they want to do.

I would say that football will continue to edge out baseball in the coming years.
