Daily Article on Uniforms

I emailed him when that thread was ongoing- JP emailed back saying he would pass it along to his staff- perhaps people would like to resume the grassroots campaign we have here?

Perhaps cf could make a donation page or something.

I would suggest sending emails to Nike Marketing... If they think it's their idea, they will pick up the costs

They probably wouldn't do it if someone sent the picture because they would be afraid that person would sue them or something.

I absolutely love this design and would really like to see it used.

Unforturnately, in searching for a fitting anniversary date, the best (and ideal) date to use it would be in October, 2023 because...

October 6, 1923 - Jack Trice's first and only college game

October 8, 1923 - Jack Trice dies of injuries from that game

October 26, 1973 - groundbreaking on (what became) Jack Trice Stadium

October, 2023 - 100th anniversary of Jack Trice's first game and death
- 50th anniversary of Jack Trice Stadium groundbreaking

I wish we could come up with some other anniversary to use this uniform design because waiting 11 years kind of sucks. Maybe since the anniversary of Trice and the stadium named for him both fall in October we could do an annual game in October with this retro design.

Another date in history:

September 26, 1975 - first game played at the stadium (versus Air Force)

You could easily just do the 90th anniversary next year if it had to be a "round" number. Use it to kick off a yearly Jack Trice game.

I waited a long time before opening what I thought was just another uniform thread. Boy was I wrong. I think it would be really cool for a special occasion. I am concerned, however, that it does not comply with NCAA rules.

b. Other than the player’s number, the jersey may only contain:
Player’s name; school name; NCAA Football logo; sleeve stripes; insignia for school, conference, mascot, postseason-game, memorial, or the military; or an American or state flag.
c. Any insignia must not exceed 16 square inches in area (i.e., rectangle, square, parallelogram), including any additional material (e.g., patch).
d. A border around the collar and cuffs not more than 1 inch wide is
permissible, as is a maximum 4-inch stripe along the side seam (insert from
the underarm to pants top).
e. If a colored jersey contains white, it may appear only as any of the items
listed in par. b above.
f. Jerseys may not be taped or tied in any manner.

Note that it only allows certain markings on the jersey. Chest or abdomen stripes are not on the list. Michigan got away with it because they used an "insignia for the school".

Sorry to be a downer. I hope I am wrong on this.

Perhaps we could sell it as the stripes are a memorial to Jack Trice since "memorial" is included. 16 square inches is still an issue although it looks like the Michigan M is larger than 4 x 4 inches.

I really like this uni and what it stands for.

none of this will ever be considered anyway, its just fun to design and play around.

what about those awful Maryland unis they wore for their first game of the year that was cut down the middle and had the checkered shoulders and half helmets

and some of them had stripes down the side too.

I remember the thread that started all this. And to see how far this has spread is amazing. ISU could do a T Shirt like that and maybe make some of that 75000 in sales.

i'm the designer he references in the article and this is the image i gave him and the author isn't sure why it's not on the website but is working on getting it up.

isubeatle, I like your original design even better minus the Ronald McDonald socks;-) Both versions better than what ISU has now, imo. Should be the permanent jersey going forward.

I think the last little finishing touch on these spectacular unis would be to print Trice's letter on one of the stripes.

With the small number in the corner, it reminds me of a soccer jersey. I like it much better with the larger number.

Why does a small number remind you of a soccer jersey? It wouldn't look like a soccer jersey unless it had a big advertisement across the chest *instead* of a number.
