Idea to make Refs do better.

As many are complaining that we were homered tonight that got me thinking about what could be done, here is my idea:

1 Review each game by retired coaches/refs that have no affilation to either team, and have them count how many missed calls they believed happened (or wrongly called), grade them (somehow)

2 Give bonus to refs that get good grades, and put poor performing refs on notice. IF they have 2 bad seasons in a row than they need to go back to JUCO.

3 You have to add to your overall costs and the ref crew is going to have to charge more with x% going to review board.

4 Must have a swift action plan for any crew who calls two bad games in a row such as a suspension.

5 the refs should be able to review and rebutt any games that they were found to have called badly.

I know this would cost alot more than we pay now, but it would be nice to know that we only have the best refs, and if there are any crazy bad calls than... you know the refs will hear about it from someone who matters.

Just my 2 cents, what's your ideas?

two things

a: I'd rather see money go towards something like this to get the games better officiated.

b: No chance it will ever, ever happen.

there is nothing wrong with the officiating. people fail to understand that these guys are human and the same crews are not used every night, which is why these guys are inconsistent.

watch a game when you have no bias. it is truly amazing how different the game really looks.

I do agree that these guys should not be able to have another job during the season. these guys do it part time. most have day actual day jobs, the guys in the NBA are full time referees that is all they do. Not saying NCAA should Go to this but if you are going to Officiate in the big 12 or any other prime time conference you should not be able to have a job during that season.

Officials get an immediate evaluation after the game and whichever one scores lowest gets executed.

I've watched a lot of Big 12 games, and they are equally horrible in each and every other game.

The thing is, it is not just us. College basketball officiating is seen as some of the worst among any sport and any level throughout the nation.

Officials can make the same calls both ways. That did NOT happen tonight. They made opposite type calls on each end. There was a definite bias in the calls in the second half.

The refs weren't great by any stretch tonight but these guys are the best at what they do unfortunately. If there were a ton of people who were capable to officiating such games they would as they pay REALLY well but these guys are the best of the best not doing NBA games.

Every losing team's fanbase blames the officiating. It's an easy scapegoat, because you can easily find several bad calls per game. I'm sure Mizzou could find a few things to ***** about as well.

To be honest though, it seems like almost every single game there is some sort of complaining about officials on here, win or lose. Refs aren't out to get Iowa State. They just aren't. And there is no way the officials would have favored Mizzou tonight over ISU, considering the conference realignment stuff. So, if there was a conspiracy, I doubt it would be to help Mizzou.

We complain we get homered after every game. The blame it on the refs bull crap gets a little old. Missouri was the more aggressive team for the majority of the night, thus more calls on us. In non-con we'd attack the rim a lot more. Now we chuck up 25-30 3's a game.

Basketball is a fast moving sport, faster than anything else, you have 3 sets of eyes trying to view it from floor level. There are going to be missed calls, both ways. It's really easy to watch it on TV, with instant replay, from above the court, and say "oh that was a bull **** call".

Someone reviews every game already anyways.

Did you watch the game tonight? They might not have been "out to get us" but they didn't know what they were doing, thats for sure.

I don't think anyone thinks they were "out to get Iowa State." We just think they were horribly incompetent.

I know nothing will ever be done with it, just a discussion. Seems to me that someday this will have to happen. I remember couple years back when a ref betting scam was revelled and there was something like 30% of the NBA refs betting on games they were about to ref. Who's to say there isn't stuff like that going on now in College sports. NBA now has a review panel but I do not know any of tidbits about it.

We get the same homer calls in Hilton Coliseum that Missouri got tonight in Mizzou Arena.

And like has been repeated a zillion times on here, every game is reviewed and the referees watch the majority of it with the conference office.

Has there been a conference game yet this year there hasn't been a thread ******** about officiating?
