If that was the case then college coaches wouldn't bend over backwards to keep HS coaches happy.
Not saying HS coaches end up making the decision but they do have a ton of pull.

Interesting. I did my student teaching with Jim. He is a great coach and his record is absolutely no reflection of his coaching abilities. Coach Ferentz has been trying to get him on staff for quite a few years actually. He knows his football, that is for sure.
The problem at Jefferson is not his coaching, it is the general attitude of the school. There is a general "dont give a ****" attitude that spans through the entire school. Kids would rather drop out than go out for sports. The kids that do go out for sports that are "athletes" cant keep their gpa up, cant keep themselves out of trouble, cant keep their egos in check. Some of their assistants are dead weight also. Its an easy thing to turn the attitude of an entire school with a sports team.
That being said, I would have absolutely no problem with Coach Womochil joining the staff in some degree. Like I said, he knows football and he has just as much passion for young people as I have ever seen Coach Rhoads show.

Honest question, how do you know that KF has been trying to get Womochil on his staff? Did Womochil tell you that? If so, that is the kind of thing I have heard people say they don't like about Womochil is that he has a tendency to exaggerate future coaching opportunities.
I for one have been in the room with both of them before and can tell you that it wasn't about any player at school. I was fortunate enough to have spent a lot of time with Womo and have overheard his convos on the phone with him as well. Jim has also coached at the Iowa camps for a number of years as i belive an offensive line coach as well as working with Dbacks, which he played at UNI.
When I was there he had an opportunity to join the staff as an assistant in some form or another. He was unable to because his wife was going to back to school I believe. I dont remember the full story as this was few years ago.
Granted I no longer have any ties to ISU, but I would have zero problem with this. There is nothing wrong with hiring a passionate coach with in state ties. Look at the current staff, Messingham came from Upper Iowa, he is now our OC. If you were told 3 years ago that our future OC was coming from Upper Iowa, how would you feel?
Messingham didn't come from an Iowa HS, he came from a small college. He also had DI experience at So. Miss and coordinator experience at 1AA Missouri State.

He could be a hell of a HS coach for all I care, but the thought of hiring a HS coach to be the Defensive backs coach in the pass happy Big 12 is .....well it appears insane
