Tom Herman to Ohio State (Confirmed)

Re: Herman to Ohio State?

Now that's interesting...I wonder if there was talk about that not getting renewed.

this is what I'm thinking as well..i'm guessing Rhoads has known about this for at least a week and has a guy ready to come in immediately

Very disappointed. I thought some of his play calling was suspect at times, but started clicking better with a better QB who can make throws/reads quickly.

This is where having such a low budget really hurts us... keeping quality coaches is very difficult.

Coaching with Meyer at OSU is difficult to turn down... I wish Herman well.

I hope he can coach the bowl game... would really hamper our chances vs. Rutgers if he doesn't.

Go Clones!! Believe!

Re: Herman to Ohio State?

People. He's the OC of a school that's going to score like a pinball machine in arguably the best conference with a young clan of weapons.

Scot Loeffler was QB coach for Meyer a few years back, and he translated that into an OC position.

At Temple.

No way Herman leaves to be a peon coach in a non-quarterback league for a shattered program led by a guy with an anxiety disorder.

The position is a great opportunity for someone. Just not him, and certainly not now. If he was offered and took that position, I'd be glad, because it would make me realize that he's too stupid to coach in this business (he isn't, obviously!) and I'd prefer not to have someone with brain damage running our shiny new offense next year.

You have my personal guarantee that this will not happen. Redeemable at any Wal-Mart. Some restrictions apply.

Personal guarantee, huh? Good call on that one.

This is makes no sense to me. Only way its completely not ******** to me is if Rhoads "nudged" him out, and even then that would be a stupid move by Rhoads.

This looks horrible for ISU.

I'd rather he didn't. His mind is already going to be on Ohio St. You can't tell me he's going to be able to put much effort into game planning and play calling when he's thinking about the offense and players he's going to get to work with next year in the back of his mind the whole time.

And here comes the jump to conclusions people. I'll get the mat ready for you.

How?

How do our offensive stats stack up w/ the rest of the conference this season?

My vote would be to hire Scott Frost, wr coach at Oregon. Midwest ties, knows Chip Kelly's spread inside and out. Great recruiter.

Re: Herman to Ohio State?

That sucks, he's a good coach and we might take a step back before moving forward. Also looks bad if we have OC's so excited to get out of Ames that they're willing to take a demotion.

Well, I think it says more about his confidence as a coach, imo. If I were interviewing, my first question would be, "Why did you take that demotion back in '11? Seems like you guys were on the right track in a tough place to win, yet you left to take a demotion?"

In the end, it's probably better that he left now, while JB is still young and we have some younger receivers rather than doing this next year. I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but if anyone wants to review my posts, I was never overly impressed with what he was doing here. And questioned on many ocassions weather or not he was right for this job. Next year is a "Could have been" now, which we'll never know. But personally, I don't think he'll be missed all that much.
