Time to stop playing at Drake

Come on its on our player to put the ball in the hoop, not where they play. You really think the Knapp center is a tough place, really.

exactly if you can't go into the knapp center and get a win how the bleep are you going to do going into Lawrence Fieldhouse.

I wonder if people will realize that we lost to Drake back in the 99-00 season too... and how'd that season turn out?
I really hope this is sarcasm. There have been 500 threads made in the last 18 hours about the same thing.
This team has nobody near the level of Tinsley, Fizer, or Horton.

And look at the freaking out that is still going on...

The season is far from over...

Hok posters that are p!ssy about losing to ISU in football alway refer to "national perception".

Please place all future "don't play Drake" thoughts in national perceptions terms.

Hint: The national perception of UI-ISU football and ISU-Drake basketball is identical.

He didn't say we should stop playing Drake. He said we should stop playing AT Drake and I agree. Why are we giving them a home game?

It's unfair we have to play "motivated" mid-major teams. That means we have to get motivated too, and that's just not fair.

It's unfair when we can't win in their gyms. It's unfair that we have much better "talent," but somehow, we don't win. We then must also take Northern Colorado, Prairie View, Lipscomb, UNI, Western Carolina off our schedule because we might lose to them, too.

Waaaaaahhh. Waaaaaahh. I've never seen such a collection of loser excuses.

We should stop playing ANY away games without a 17,000 seat arena. It sure is tough to go in and play at a small gym I tells ya.

I dont recall this point being brought up 2 years ago...I wonder why?

We were saying yesterday when everyone thought we would win big, that we should change it. This isnt a 'we're ****** that we lost' thing, its a 'why are we doing something most other major schools dont' thing.

Has drake ever had a home and home with a big-6 school outside of iowa? That answers the question for me.

Two years ago, Lucca brought the pain.

I looked that up in "only career highlight" file.

Some people on here are such conformist its ridiculous. We cant do anything unless some other big name school out there does it as well. Its something that makes Iowa unique, and its been a tradition for as long as I can remember. Our first road game each year is usually at UNI or Drake...a road game very close to home, and IMO, thats a good thing.

Mizzou plays AT Old Dominion this year

Despite our lackluster performance last night, there is still no reason that team should have lost to Drake last night. Our players were recruited to Iowa State because their talent was Big 12 level, not Missouri Valley. When you play in Hilton Coliseum in front of 12k to 14k fans, and the other arenas in the Big 12, it can be very difficult to transition down to play a game in a glorified high school gymnasium full of 4k to 5k fans. This letdown, along with Drake's extra motivation to beat the BCS conference team, plays extremely far into Drake's (and any other mid-major)'s favor. Mizzou does not play Missouri State; Kansas and Kansas State do not play Wichita State.... it's time for Iowa State to only play this game at home, at Wells Fargo, or else not at all. If this team hits its stride in Big 12 play, and develops a tournament resume, last night's game at Drake will be a thorn in our side, and possibly even a burst our bubble. It is time to quit catering to a private school who's success directly hampers our ability to compete and reach the next level. We might as well play a schedule North Carolina or Duke if we're going to lose at Drake, instead.

I expect this crap from Iowa football fans, not a rational Cyclone.

For shame.

We outrebounded Drake by 1 rebound. We had 2 less TO's than Drake. I agree that ISU lost the game more than Drake won it. Scotty, Ejim played terrible. Allen shot poorly. The 5 minutes that Bubu was in the game were a waste. We should have outrebounded Drake by a lot. White let Clark play him to a draw many times. And White needs to quit charging in going to the bucket. Although I thought the refs gave Drake several breaks as the man was moving and flopped.

I actually thought Bubu played the best D of anyone on our team, so i wouldn't call it a waste.

Mizzou- 2 for 1 (played at mizzou last 2 years)
Wisconsin- not a home and home. More like a 3x at madison, 1x at milwaukee situation
Michigan state- not a regular series.
Indiana- not a regular series
OSU- not a regular series
Texas tech- 2 for 1. (played at TTU the last 2 years)

Care to play again?

And even then, how many have two of these regular series set up, like we do with Drake and UNI?

Home or away, it doesn't matter. We have no business losing to Drake. We can't be having that. It's uncalled for.
