Anyone catch Deace's comment during the 11-09-11 show? Listen here at around 19:45.

"That president ought to be taken out back and introduced to a rock quarry with some guys who really know how to throw a pitch..."

He said something on Miller and Deace on Wednesday that I lol'd at. Something to the effect of Paterno does not have much time left on earth, he should not be buying green bananas if you know what I mean.

I'm surprised Deace isn't zeroing in on Spanier:

Graham Spanier was an abused child. To this day, he carries the hallmarks of abuse on his face. The son of a Holocaust survivor, Spanier was beaten by his father, having his nose broken so frequently that it couldn't be straightened.

Spanier remembered as change agent at UNL - Omaha.com

While serving at Penn State's College of Health and Human Development, he published a thesis exploring the normalization of sexual deviance in the Midwest.

SpringerLink - Archives of Sexual Behavior, Volume 4, Number 2

He served as the University of Nebraska's Chancellor from 1991-1995. An advocate of gay rights, he required faculty at Nebraska to place pink triangle stickers on their office doors to indicate support of gay students.

Former UNL Chancellor No Longer The Penn State President - 1240am KFOR

He was Chancellor at Nebraska just following the Franklin Child Prostitution Ring Scandal, a major scandal in Nebraska involving the Franklin Credit Union and allegations of child prostitution involving elite national and Nebraska leaders, businessmen and university donors.*

He left Nebraska for the post at Penn State.

In other words, Graham Spanier has absolutely no excuse, personally, professionally or historically for enabling Sandusky's abuse.

None.

*An eerie similarity between the Franklin scandal and the Penn State Scandal - in both cases, the lead investigator died/disappeared mysteriously after mentioning having "smoking gun" evidence, that was then destroyed.

Supposedly the ring that kidnapped Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin. I've read about that whole situation. There were very powerful old white men involved in that. What is it with old white rich men abusing kids?

Wonder if this expose are making some other schools nervous and their past actions.

Well, Larry King was the GOP's rising star, the alleged hub of the ring, and he is black.

So...I guess the best thing you can say about pedophilia is that it isn't racist.

Yuck.

In any case, my main point wasn't to get into the Franklin controversy, but to point out that Spanier, as a recognized academic sexologist, a gay rights advocate, a child of abuse, and someone with an institutional history of child prostitution rings is completely without excuse in this matter.

The only reasonable excuse for his participation in the cover-up is that he not only was aware, but that he approved.

His experience following Franklin gave him a clear, iron-clad roadmap for handling Sandusky: turn him in, expose him, publically accuse if the cops wouldn't charge him.

It was an easy, easy, easy path for a person who has an understanding of abuse.

And he took the much harder one.

Why?

Perhaps he is way too close to the whole situation......Just sayin

What does that mean? Seriously. Thanks

I just found it interesting. No need to talk about the Franklin scandal. Yuck is right.

It's pretty easy to see the connections. People will get ****** if you accuse someone of being involved at a deeper level than we actually know, but it fits with the rumor about the charity pimping kids. And that guy went to ISU.

I think abusers have no boundaries as far as race, gender or sexual leanings. To say such a thing is patently absurd.

I think he means Joepa won't last long, Penn State football was his whole life, he probably will die quickly after all the info comes out and trials start. he has now nothing to live for. My guess.

The green bananas line is not original. It's just a funny way of saying someone is old. It's usually used in a self-depreciating way, like: "I am so old I don't even buy green bananas any more." Green bananas need a few days to ripen before you eat them. Get it?

I think abusers have no boundaries as far as race, gender or sexual leanings. To say such a thing is patently absurd.

Hard boundaries? Correct.

However, I don't think there was a suggestion that there are hard boundaries (i.e. certain races/people NEVER commit abuse). If anything, it was a suggestion that certain groups do have among their number a disproportionate number of abusers.

This is true, statistically. The subset of gay men has a vastly disproportionate number of abusers versus, say, heterosexual women (or, really, any other subset of gender and orientation).

So to suggest that it is patently absurd that gender or sexual leanings have no bearing on abuse is incorrect. I'm not suggesting you are making that statement. Only that it isn't clear if you are making that statement or not.
