And who is supposed to cough up the money to convince OU to stay? Last year, it was A$M making cash money demands. Why do I get the feeling the Forgotten Five will be paying for this, and we find ourselves back here again someday soon....

OU is a whiny little *****. If this is how it goes down (and it probably will), wonder how boomer will justify it.

Nope. This will be out of Tex***' pocket if it comes from anywhere.

ESPN will probably pay it with more 3rd tier money to OU. Cheaper for ESPN to do that instead of paying more 1st and 2nd tier money to the P12.

Things I now believe to be true:

1. ESPN and UT drive a stake into the heart of the conference with their $1 billion deal.
2. aTm wants to leave immediately, which surprises none of the parties involved.
3. All other remaining schools proceed with standing plans from last year to expand the conference in aTm's eventual absence.
4. BYU expresses immediate interest, asking only for confirmation the coference is in it for the long haul.
5. OU cannot promise this, due to their new problems with LHN, which turned out to be a much greater financial windfall for UT than anyone anticipated.
6. Expansion as a means of saving the conference completely stalls, rendering the conference zombie status.
7. OU representatives tell other conference members they only wish to use the opportunity to get a better deal for everyone out of UT. They continue to develop options to leave the conference.
8. OU expects aTm to leave in the short term, and attempts to lay blame for Zombie Big 12 at their feet when it occurs, absolving themselves from whatever happens next. They push their "formal decision" off three weeks to force the SEC to act on aTm's admission in order to make scheduling possible for next year. An attempt to avoid blame for an eventual jump?
9. SEC sees legal trepidation and does not sweep aTm out of the conference on OU's time table.
10. Word of OU's duplicity ultimately leak out.

I really hope you're right, but it's a big question mark at the moment. Short of a branded conference TV network for all members together, how does discussion of monetary settlement with OU benefit anyone but the Sooners?

All I am gonna say is we better not have to cough up cash to keep these d bags in the conference. I am soo ******* sick and tired of ISU getting the shaft!!!
