This whole situation is reaching Season 6 of LOST status. What lies in the shadow of the statue!?
Stupid *** show "oh its about the characters, and not the actual mysteries on the island that we have been promoting to get people to watch this ****** show." /rant

maybe this can add to this thread a nice Lost discussion.

Not that it matters, but I found the latest academic ratings in the Big 12 according to US News and World Report:

University of Texas at Austin No. 45
Texas A&M University at No. 58
Baylor at No. 75
Missouri at No. 90
Iowa State at No. 97
Kansas and Oklahoma at No. 101
Oklahoma State at No. 132
Kansas State at No. 143
Texas Tech at No. 160

That's why I'm never quite sure how the PAC would feel about taking either Texas Tech without Texas

or K-State along with Kansas. If you're the PAC, K-State's academics stink and you're already bringing no TV sets to the table if you have Kansas already.

If you're the PAC, how to you get to 16? I'm still not sold that OU to the PAC is a done deal. If that doesn't happen, then the Big 12 lives because everybody else wants it to.

Its never impressive to be behind Mo when educational items are being ranked.

This thread is ******* worthless. Can we go back to having a daily realignment thread. I can't even follow what is going on.
Nothing is going on -- that is the point. The entire discussion is worthless. Regardless of what the HawkeyePierce, BudLyte, VertebraeandGin, Cheifssuck24 and Clark Butterfingers of this world have to say. It helps sell when buying is critical to survival. Here it is seen for what it is...... pure palaver.

What is the source of these rankings? I take every one of these supposed lists of 'top' schools with a large grain of salt. The criteria are so variable and sometimes meaningless. Even US News and World Report - if a school/program spends a lot of time (money) preparing their case they are likely to receive a higher ranking.

I think the thing that we should be proud of as ISU alumni is the AAU membership. Rankings schmankings.

If you look at enough rankings ISU can be found anywhere from the low 40's to the high 90's. Whatever the ranking "committee" chooses as important will sway the results.

Huh. That's good to know. I always figured the U.S. News and World Report was basically the only one that did the rankings. Makes sense though that different rankings might be biased toward different criteria.

Either way, I'm a bit surprised that nobody at Stanford or Cal hasn't at least brought up the question of adding teams like Okla St, Texas Tech or possibly K-State to the PAC. Sounds like the some of the Big Ten academic big wigs weren't super happy about being forced to add Nebraska.

As with anything in life it doesn't matter if you're smart, dumb, ugly, good-looking, charismatic, or a bore. People will want you as long as you have $$.

Isnt it 'selectiveness' that hurts ISU a lot in some of them?

I will bet my houses that in 24, 36, 48 and/or 60.....72.....84+ months from today, the big xii will still exist and ISU will be in it.

Clark Butterfingers sometimes does get a scoop. He knows his wrestling.

Way to bring fantasy into this thread.

Yes, because the previous 10k+ posts have all been focused on facts.

I have nothing against you, but do you ever wonder why some people like to hate on you?

I do agree with your post.

Is "change good" today or is the Big XII still around 84 months from now?
