This frustrates the hell outta me. I NEVER thought all this realignment bull **** would come up again just one year later. I was really starting to get pumped up for ISU football this year (don't get me wrong, I still am) but a lot of the excitement has been somewhat tempered thanks to aTm and their **** poor timing on bailing on the conference. If they want to leave then fine, take a hike. As for the Big XII, find the 10th, 11th or 12th team, whatever it takes, to make this conference stable (and I'm looking directly at you OU for going to the Big 10 with a package deal) so that I don't have to hear the word 'realignment' again at least for the next few years.

Tell Texas to drop the LHN and things will be fine. Turn the LHN into a conference network, then and only then will there be stability in the Big 12.
 
They might as well convert the LHN into the Big 12 Network, now that it is clear they aren't going to be able to fill it with high school football games...their preferred content. Time to do what is best for the stability of the conference. Either that or pull in ND!

FYI, Mizzou and KSU are on the verge of starting their own networks. OU is getting close, too.

If a B12 conference network was financially viable, ESPN or some other provider would have started the process by now. With 10 teams, all of the premium content is on the 1st and 2nd tier networks with nothing for the 3rd tier networks like LHN or a B12 conference network. Your constant conference network whining is baseless.

He's absolutely right. It will never happen because texas is the most arrogant school in the entire country, but he's absolutely right. This will never be a true conference where rivalries and geography matter, and everyone or even most are happy there. Almost all of us aside from OU and UT will be there because its the only place we can go financially.

Yup, it's only a matter of time before there is an announcement upgrading Clone Zone. We have the rights to one game a year, might as well use it.
 
I never thought there would be a topic that could lessen my excitement for ISU football. This has to be it.

Could OU be telling the B12 one thing and be in bed with the SEC? obviously that would be the nail in the B12's coffin.
 
I was hoping there would be more rumors floating around tonight, but I suppose the next 2-3 days will be telling.

Is Bob Stoops a higher up? I've read he prefers the B12.

A twelve inch one at that. That leaves Texas going through with their threat to form a new conference with Notre Dame. I'm sure ISU will be there volunteering to be a another charter member.

Edit: I'm being only partially sarcastic.

If OU and OSU bolt with A&M to the SEC the big12 is dead. In that event, either ISU ends up in a ND-UT conference or UT goes independent or UT punts on the LHN network and joins the Pac16. If the last option happens, I'll be more ****** than any other outcome, since UT could have held the big12 together by axing their network in the first place.

What's he going to say? He's not the one who makes the decisions on this issue. Any coach in a BCS conference will say that they like the conference that they're in.

Stoops certainly has plenty of incentive to stay in the Big 12, I won't deny that. But I don't think he's afraid of competition, either.

Is that option even possible? I have to think that ESPN would hammer UT for trying to get out of that contract. How much time and $$ has ESPN invested into this venture already? Not to mention they'd probably sue the crap out of UT for loss of future potential income. That would be a very bad deal for UT all around.

However, it sounds like no carriers are willing to pick up the LHN, so does that give UT an out in the contract? That's probably a question that no one knows the answer to, but makes for an interesting sideshow in this whole process.

If it's true that no carriers will take the LHN, the posters here bashing BYU as a worthless addition last summer should probably eat some crow. I have the most absolute basic package from DirecTV and I get the BYU channel. I realize it's not in so many homes purely for football, but that doesn't matter. All that matters is DirecTV or other carriers somehow put it in basic packages.

How could BYU be unworthy of conference affiliation if their own network is in more homes than our most lucrative school?

Funny you point that out. Somehow, I was watching an old BYU bowl game a couple of nights ago at like midnight, right here in Iowa.
