*****Spring Game Post Game Thoughts*****

Tiller looked a lot better than he did a year ago. He and Reynolds have great chemistry.

Jantz has a higher ceiling, he just doesn't know the offense yet.

Anyone who thinks Barnett or Capello will win the job this year is on crack. Capello is damn shifty, but he didn't show much as a passer. Barnett just isn't quite there yet, but he'll get there.

Woody looks good right now too.

I think our passing game will be improved this year.

I noticed Horne played a lot with both teams, and seemed to not leave the field very often. Perhaps some others players did a lot of this, and I just didn't notice. I got the feeling they wanted to get him completely acclimated for this fall.

Overall I don't feel too bad about the QBs. Tiller was hurt, and Jantz is still expending a lot of energy and the defense by now knows exactly whats coming.

As I stated in Feb, the QB race is pretty much even between 2 guys. The deciding factor will be who can best LEAD this team in battle.

In the RAG this morning, Money said the guy that wins will be the guy that isn't afraid to raise his voice to others and be a leader. He followed that up by saying that is Tiller at the moment.

That makes sense. QB needs to be a leader. He needs to be able to communicate something on the field that coaches might not see too. Cant be passive.

The whole "we're a 6 win team right now" debate is a little different this year. I don't know if everyone else sees this schedule as daunting as I do. We might have to beat everyone out of the Top 25 that we play and then one or two more teams just to get to a bowl.

But from what i saw yesterday compared to last years spring game... A TON better on both sides of the ball. What i liked was the mistakes that we made were pretty small and can easily be corrected. For instance:

Dropped passes
Fumbled snaps
missed reads
etc.

Great to hear Money and Horne have good games but sad to hear the continued issues with dropped passes. This has been going on too long. Listening to comments about the DL and part of me wonders if the OL made the DL look good or if the DL is better.
It is funny listening to people comment on the QB situation. Seems every QB was mentioned. One thing to keep in mind is Capello and Barnett don't get as many snaps as the other two so if the were even close to effective, that say a lot.

Tiller saying that he wants to know the decision as soon as possible rubs me the wrong way. Sounds like the second he doesn't win it, he's out the door...or at least it comes off like that.

I didn't get to the game, but I noticed that same thing that you did about Tiller's comments. Doesn't sound like a "team first" kind of guy, and I wonder why he feels so free to make comments like that to the press?

Yeah, it's not the first time he's said that either. If I were the coach, I would nip this thing in the bud before it festers all summer and causes division among the team. I would tell Tiller he's moving to WR first thing Monday morning. If he doesn't like it, see ya.

So he isn't a team first guy because he wants the QB battle decided as soon as possible? Nothing like reading something into comments.

You're going to tell your starting QB at this point that you're going to move him to WR? That sounds like a reasonable way to test him.

He's openly challenging the coaching staff's timetable - what if they decide on a starting QB a few days prior to the UNI game? What's it to him? He also said yesterday that he feels he's 'done enough" to be the #1 QB...

I dont know about anyone else, but my bags tossing was off yesterday. Not sure if it was the wind, or just being the first time out this year. That was my real only concern after the game yesterday.

Obviously your friends should be looking at bringing in someone from Iowa Central to take your spot. You just aren't cutting it.

No he isn't. he said he wants to know as soon as possible. He didn't say he should know by now. OK, so he says he thinks he done enough to be the starter. So what? What do you want him to say? Do you want him to say that he probably doesn't deserve it? He also said yesterday he still has room to improve as well but that isn't mentioned anywhere. Quit making something out of nothing.

He's more than likely going to be our starting QB going into the season and you want to move him to WR?

Child please.

Hey there - my opinion, and that of maybe a few others, differs from yours. So what? Please stop the lecturing, and maybe you should apply your need to be a control freak somewhere else?
