Hoiberg guest on KFAN (MN) in 10 minutes

*RW told hoiberg he plans on leading the nation in assists. FH says RW is a great passer, and can handle the ball and make plays.

*Hoiberg thinks we'll have the talent to compete with anybody

*Challenge will be getting players to buy in to team concept

*Will be 11 players deep, not 6

*Talked to team about Butler/VCU and how wide open tourney can be, have to play hard/as a team

*Practicing with the whole team a few more times before they break down to only 4 per session (ncaa rule).

*Really thinks Italy will tell him about leaders/rotation etc.

My take, FH won't come out and say it, but he is incredibly optimisitic/confident about next year. He knows we're going to be really, really good.

Good recap.

Also talked briefly about the coaches meetings over the weekend in Houston. He's in favor of adding a charge circle like the NBA has done.

Podcast will probably show up later today:

Begs the question: How many D-1 head coaches are semi-regular guests on a radio show in a different state? Seems like it would be a rare occurrence.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad we didn't play in the CBI or one of those other tournaments. Fred & his coaches need this time right now to observe the ncaa tournament & do all they can to improve our defensive tactics for next year's team. I have no doubts about our talent & offensive strategies moving in to next year, if we can take a big step forward on defense we can be a great team.

I'll never be in favor of a CBI invite.

you actually have to pay $$$ TO the CBI in order to play in it.

The CBI, like the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, is basically a pay-to-play event, especially if a school desires home games, as Creighton did. The school had to guarantee the sponsoring Gazelle Group $35,000 for a first-round game, $50,000 for the second round and $75,000 for the semifinals and championship series.
That does not include Creighton's normal costs for playing a game at Qwest Center Omaha. The CBI paid for Creighton's expenses on its trip to Oregon for the final two games of the best-of-three series.

I'd be ****** if Tubby Smith heavily recruited central Iowa and he was a guest on 1460 or 1700. Fred wants to recruit the Twin Cities so this is a huge win for us.

Don't forget Fred is still known in MN because of his association with the Timberwolves organization. I think that's why he got this interview.

That's correct but what I'm saying is that the Gopher Fanatics probably aren't a huge fan of him being interviewed since Fred recruits the Cities.
