Sounds like Korie Lucious is going to sign with us this week. Some people have said they don't want him, but the poll that was on the front page showed a strong majority of folks on here will be happy he's on the team. I'm excited about it too. It will be great when he can play for us, but I also think he will be very valuable while sitting out next year and providing good competition in practice.

Well, I'm not neccesarily for this one, but I also realize that he is a talented player and I trust the staff.

....and...cue the rumor shooter downers..any minute now!!

but, really though this wouldn't suprise me! I hope it's true he would be very useful!!

With Cook going the prep route, this may help in pushing an open scholarship to 2013 for Jok? Right now, anyone we sign probably wont get much time on the floor next year - would be a practice guy anyway. This could work if they have guys they are targeting for future classes and just need to space things out.

Jok will have an open scholly offer no matter what.

I promise all you doubters will be fine with this once he's on the court.

The "once he's on the court" is the problem for me. He's going to take up a scholarship for 2 years and will only be able to play one. That's not a very sensible use of your scholarships, if you ask me, but nobody did. Color me skeptical if his talent is worth that much. If he was an all-American or even an all-conference candidate, yes. But he's just an honorable mention-type player.

But like someone else said, if Hoiberg wants him, who am I to argue? I'll support the decision, if/when it happens.

What is wrong with being the third best player at your position in the conference?

How would you rather fill that scholarship next year? Take a flyer on the third leading scorer from Marion? Honestly, the year he's sitting out, he's not going to be stealing a scholarship from anyone who has more than a 5% chance of being a decent Big 12 player.

ISU is not in a position to turn down this kind of talent. With our depth next year we can afford to burn a scholarship on Korey.

Exactly. I will take Lucious as our 12th man on the bench who never sees a game minute for a year. His talent on the practice floor alone is worth the scholarship.

Players get better during practice not games. The more talented players you have 7-12 is what makes your team get better.
