NFL: Packer's Superbowl post-game thread

After all is said and done, I am much happier to see Aaron Rodgers win a ring then to see Big Ben get his third. While I "don't like" Aaron Rodgers because I am a Bears fan, I am finding that it is easier and I have more respect for Aaron Rodgers than I ever did or ever will for Brett Favre. Rodgers matched Favre tonight by winning a ring with the Packers in his 6th season, but one upped Favre by winning Super Bowl MVP. You can tell this means a lot to him. From where Rodgers came from a draft day, the ol' saying is true: The last shall be first.

I look forward to the Bears and Packers kicking off the 2011 season in Green Bay on Thursday night of week one.

Feel bad for Woodson to not be able to finish the game. Apparently when he tried to speak to the team at halftime he was too emotional to get words out.

Classy guy that really stepped up to a leadership role in Green Bay, especially this year.

Thought the game was going to end with another GB special teams meltdown, instead it was a terrible penalty by the Steelers. Wish Woodsen could have finished out the game.

Reminded me of the divisional round game against Philly. Built an early lead, let them back into it, but then came through when it mattered to pull out the win

how many times did they mention favre during the game? on sportsnation they had the over/under at 3...

It was an actual bet for most sportsbooks, with an O/U at 2.5, and one for Jerry Jones showings at 2.5.

I may be wrong, but I don't think he was mentioned once during the game and Jerry wasn't shown. Good job out of Fox to focus on the teams in the game. It was probably because the game was so good though, if the game was out of reach I'm sure they would have brought it up to kill time.

Peter King's MMQB, some good stuff on Woodson. And a great quote from Rodgers.

Charles Woodson feeling no pain as Packers win Super Bowl XLV - Peter King - SI.com

"I've never felt like there's been a monkey on my back. The organization stood behind me, believed in me. I told Ted Thompson back in 2005 he wouldn't be sorry with this pick. I told him in '08 that I was going to repay their trust and get us this opportunity at a Super Bowl.''

I remember hearing Favre's name at least once, but it wasn't much, and I appreciated that as well.

What a great game. Really thought the Steelers had the momentum to win the game despite 2 turnovers.

Feel very good for Aaron Rogers and the monkey is finally off his back. The Packers should be good for years to come with that great a quarterback and that young a team.

I thought Tomlin showed a lot of class when he said, first I like to say we got beat by a very good team. I've listened to fans all morning whining about how the Steelers should of won. Fact is in a close games there are always what ifs. I thought all three of the TOs were definitely forced.

I agree. No excuses for his team, but was very gracious to the Packers. Very classy.

The Packers are going to be very heavy favorites to repeat going into next season.
