What's Their Excuse??

Re: The newest excuse.

Or, talk obsessively about an opponent that you claim doesn't get under your skin as much as they say.

How many posts on this site can you find where I have spoken about Iowa? It's under 15. This may be my 3rd or 4th post in the rivalries forum. And where did I claim that Iowa fans don't get under my skin? They most certainly do with their holier than thou attitude.

Re: The newest excuse.

Let's make a bet.

How many more of these threads can we expect to see?

I am willing to bet I've seen more anti-Hawkeye threads than pro-Cyclone threads over the course of the past 2 weeks.

And please, on top of wasting your time by posting on a message board of a team you don't even like, waste more time by going back and counting them all!

Maybe you will win the bet!

Unfortunately, this is the problem. You may not have posted more than a few things about Iowa - but over the past few days, there have been more posts on the responses of Iowa fans than there have been about Toledo.

I apologize if my post seemed directed towards you - I realize that you may or may not be posting so much anti-Iowa stuff.

I guess it's just whenever I sign on to see what's up in Clone world, I want to see what's up in Clone world. If I wanted to see upset Iowa fans, I'd go to their boards. It just seems to me that the majority of the posts the past few days are either posts that Iowa fans have made on other sites, or things that Iowa fans have said since the game.

Again, I apologize if it seemed my post was directed towards you - I was just making a general observation using your thread, since it was about the 10th new topic on the same subject I had seen today.

It seems strange to me that you accuse Cyclone fans of being obsessed with what Hawkeye fans are saying, yet you're a Hawkeye that regularly visits and posts on a Cyclone board.

I understand last week, and I understand the couple days after the game. But now, it's closer to the Toledo game than the Iowa game, and every other thread is "Squawk fans say this" or "What's their excuse now?"

So you are saying its time for you to leave?

i would have to disagree with this...too many yes but not more than procyclone

Exactly. I mean, the Iowa win was a huge pick up for the ISU fan base. But, there comes a time to move on.

Yes, Iowa fans are making excuses. We will be for a while. As long as your definition for an excuse is trying to explain an inexplicable loss, then it'll probably last until next year.
so you can talk about a loss for all year but we cant talk about a win? we have to be talking about toledo already? if you believe what you typed, shouldnt you be talking about wisconsin?

I just checked the most recent threads. Out of the 14 most recent threads, 3 have to do with the Hawkeyes, which is understandable considering we just beat them in a rivalry game only 4 days ago. But 9 out of those 14 threads have to do with ISU football, and nothing to do with the Hawkeyes. So I don't think you can say that Cyclone fans are posting excessively about the Hawks.

you lost get over it. Cyclones are getting tired of Hawk fans saying **** like "Well if we would have played like we did the second half we could have won. Well guess what, if we had somewhat of an offense and made those FG's into TD's we would have blown you outta the water or if Jason Berryman and Roberson weren't kicked off the team our defense wouldn't have allow a yard.

Re: The newest excuse.

I've been kind of wondering why, on a "Fan" forum, we have SouthernHawk as our voice of conscience. I, myself, HATE the hawks and their miserable fans 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, 365.25 days a year. I don't need someone to try to convince me that I am "wrong" or "bad" for doing that. I'm happy with who I am, and am not going to change.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised at how lukewarm and how little Cyclone fans seem to care about beating up one of our "patsy" pre-conference schools. I know, beating a weak team like EIU by only 2 is disappointing, but Chizik is a new coach, and we need to be patient while he builds his system.

Re: The newest excuse.

sh is correct it really is time to put the game behind us and move forward...j

Didn't I read somewhere that they recently added a minute to the clock to adjust for irregularities in the orbit of the earth? Make sure to count that!:biglaugh:

Re: The newest excuse.

The newest excuse that I have heard from more than one person this week:

"Since Iowa's 99 January Bowl games in 4 years, they have been able to recruit from areas all over the country. This has messed up the chemistry of the team. Iowa needs to get back to recuriting Iowa boys only."
Iowa boys only doesn't cut it, and never has. However, even Earl Bruce made the point in an interview Saturday about the importance of filling your roster with Iowa kids. It does seem that whoever is getting the cream of the crop in Iowa is usually the top team in the state. Obviously you have to recruit nationally beyond that.

Re: The newest excuse.

Wait one week and we will be shifting to the Big 12 and Big Red diatribe, We are just trying to enjoy the week.

I just wish we played Notre Dame and could be on national TV.

Not like that would work - if Notre Dame came to Jack Trice the Big XII would black out the game in favor of Texas, aTm, and Oklahoma...

Re: Excuses for EIU...part two

Not only is the Big 10 not that good this year. They are on the bottom of the list of BCS conferences.

Re: Excuses for EIU...part two

At what point are we going to stop talking about this? Every time we post we give it more creedance/cred. I am as guilty but we should be acting like Barry Sanders getting into the endzone-it is what he did and didn't celebrate/gloat toooo much.

I really think that is how we need to approach beating Iowa et al. The bigger thing is let's get the et al. added to our resume. Furthermore; wouldn't it be better to say we beat an awesome Iowa team, instead of we stole a 2 pt victory from a crappy team?
