Hadn't seen this thread started yet...

Rumored to be Locke-centric. I'm guessing we will finally find out who the candidate is going to be. I'm guessing Jack, after his leap of faith last week. Thoughts?

OK wait... is tonight's episode new? I looked at the info and it seemed a repeat at first glance. On second thought, maybe I am confusing tonight's with the recent "The Recruit" episode.

It's got to be Jack. It's no coincidence that Jack jumping from Sawyer's boat was immediately followed by the Jin & Sun "Everything is going to be alright" flash-sideways scene in the hospital.

However, it is LOST, so anything is possible, really.

Last week was a repeat of Ab Aeterno. This week is new.

If the episode is supposed to be Locke-centric, I think Locke is the candidate.

Yeah I wasn't quite sure if I believed that or not when I saw it. The only way I could see it being Locke-centric is if it was focused off the island. And if that's the case I'd be disappointed. I did see that next week is suppose to be MIB/Jacob-centric though, which is extremely exciting.

Yes Im very pumped to see the history of MIB. I think that will be a great episode.

He's dead. Unless you mean in the other timeline? I don't think Smokey could be a candidate.

Yes, I mean the other life. =) When they do titles like this it tends to mean something different than we expect.

That is a really good point. What will happen with the "live" Locke in the other timeline? Somehow I think the folks behind Lost have something better in mind for him that to simply cease to exist if that timeline is wiped out. He's been such a key character. I think you could be right.

We now know that the cork in the bottle was a good clue.

Is the candidate stuck with the future island?

Its almost as if the blast knocked part of the people into the other life. So Desmond going around waking the part of them up to remember their other part may end up joining them. If thats the case, I picture real Locke pushing MIB out of his body. Who knows.

Or is there a chance that Locke isn't dead? IIRC Locke's body made it to the island, giving the MiB the ability to look like Locke, but MiB did not take over his body - am I remembering this right? I keep thinking about the quote Illana kept saying "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" I don't think a real answer was given, but if you remember when the coffin is opened and Locke's body spills out technically he would be in the shadow of the statue. MiB was the man who crossed Locke off the list, not Jacob, so would it be too late to bring the real Locke back to the island?

Mind Blowing Episode!!! Killed off 3 major characters ( wont name them in case you havent watched). Was not expecting that after the episode started slow... can't wait till next week. How the **** is it gonna end????!?!?!?

Killer episode, and it was great that it wasn't all action. I agree that it was really slow about to the part when they hijacked the submarine from Widmore's people. From that point it was pretty much an emotional rollercoaster, both on-island and in flash-sideways.

Jin and Sun.. wow. Saddest main cast death since Charlie at the end of season 3. Damn you Lost, pulling at my heart strings!

My favorite part of the episode had to have been Jack shoving Flocke into the water. "Jack, you don't have to stay here. Whoever told you that, lied." "John Locke told me I had to stay!" *slam*

Have to say, I was never a really big fan of Jack until the past season and a half. I love the 180 the writers have done with him... and whoever didn't know he was going to be "The Candidate" hasn't been paying attention. (The final episode will air uncharacteristically on May 23rd, a SUNDAY... and the number 23 corresponds to Jack Shephard's name on the lighthouse wheel.)

To tell you the truth, I'm actually kind of nervous seeing how many episodes are left. I feel like there's so many loose ends to be tied with the season alone. Where are Richard, Ben, and Miles? What's the purpose of the island, besides containing the evil that it's metaphorically corking inside a bottle? What did the Dharma Initiative really want with this place?

Good episode..... again, I have no clue to where they are steering this thing. Who is going to be left on the island? If that is to be the case? Will Smokie be in the "Sideways world?"
