Was this really necessary DM Register?

I'm not worked up, I just don't want to turn this whole conversation into "You're not an ISU FAN !@!@#!!!!!!" deal. You can believe me or not I guess, I don't really care either way. I'm not going to lose any sleep, thinking, "ZOMG, Stewo doesn't think I like ISU! How can I prove it to him."

Do you think "ZOMG" a lot?

What would be your argument for ISU to the Big Ten?

Not even most of the Cyclone fans here can make a rational argument.

BCS bowls in our future due to step down in competition. just look at what we did to the big 10 team we played in our bowl game.

And you think that there is one for Nebraska? They don't meet any of the academic requirements, they aren't considered a research institution, and they have an extremely low population base. But, hey, I guess they were good back when they allowed partial qualifiers.

I highly doubt Nebraska will be joining the Big 10. But Nebraska would still have something to offer to the Big 10 unlike ISU. Nebraska has a national following. ISU, not so much.

LOL ISU won by 1 point. Minnesota was not a good team. Oh yeah I forgot, I'm talking to the guy that thinks Iowa flooded the field, didn't cut the grass, and messed with the communication system. Almost forgot paying off the refs. You are an embarrassment.

The only argument I would have isn't a real argument, unfortunately. As a Hawk at work and I were talking, he said, "Can you imagine what Iowa State could do in a conference with revenue sharing?"

Yeah, I've thought about it. It would be pretty sweet. So, the only argument I have is our theoretical potential. I think we'd make a real academic contribution, but I'm not convinced that this is an academic decision here.

The reason ISU isn't getting in the Big 10 is tv sets. END. OF. STORY.

The Big 10 already has the TV sets in Iowa, which is why I think Pitt isn't getting a B10 invite and Rutgers, 'Cuse, and UConn will. Sure, there are plenty of Pitt fans in PA, but they're already probably watching Penn State games when Pitt's not on. ISU could be Top 5 in both football and basketball, and we wouldn't get the nod because we don't bring any more TV revenue. Just like if the Big 12 were the progressive conference with it's own network and revenue sharing looking to snap up some more teams, Iowa probably wouldn't be brought in.

Obsessing again? Isn't it about time for you to re stack your hawk baseball cards or something? Or keep replaying the Bulaga draft highlights . . over and over again?

Why would he have to keep watching Bulaga's highlights? He has Tony Moeaki, Pat Angerer and Amari Spievey highlights to watch now as well. Throw in Edds and Calloway today and he will have more hawkeye draft highlights then he will know what the hell to do with.

Which proves the Big 10 is a money grubbing back door league with little interest in actual athletic competition. Missouri is a losing Big XII program . . yet because it has "potential" TV audience it sells??? The NCAA needs to stop this BIG 10/11/? madness before it goes nuclear across the country. Frickin geedy Big 10 . . will ruin conference alignments across the country. I say again, the NCAA needs to step in and block this monopolistic forumula.

I do think that Jim Delaney is intent on destroying College Football. One of the great things about the sport is that there are a lot of different conferences with different identities, and great rivalries, and interesting non-con matchups, and he's basically igniting a huge "monkey see monkey do" domino action that's just going to destroy the conference system. I think going to 12 teams makes total sense for the Big 10, and even 14 could work out well, but 16 is ridiculous. If everyone decides they have to form 16 team conferences, it kills the game as we know it.

It's kind of funny that some ISU fans think the Rag is biased towards Iowa. There are lots of Hawk posters who feel it's the opposite.

Maybe the Rag just hates us all equally.

Touché……………………………………..I have yet to get a sound comment from Iowa or ISU fans alike on this very thing. They both are convinced the rag is biased against them. Yet no one can explain why or how?!?!?

Just more fan stuff…………………………….

As for the ISU to the Big 10 stuff it’s just not plausible unless they are the 4th or 5th team on a 5 team add.

Yup. That's exactly right. The Big Ten is the only conference worried about money. The Big 12 has shown MUCH more interest in athletic competition based off of how they handle money. Right? RIGHT???

Unless I missed something, nobody knows how many teams are being added. It's not Delaney's job to save college football or destroy it. His job is to elevate the Big 10 brand and increase revenue. The guy brought one of the most storied football programs in history into the conference, expanded Big 10 bowl tie-ins, is responsible for bringing instant replay to college football, watched the conference's average football attendance increase by around 20,000 during his tenure, and launched the Big 10 television network. If you hate the Big 10 odds are you hate Delaney. I'm not a huge fan either, given that he's against a playoff system. But the guy gets it done and has helped make the Big 10 the most powerful conference in the country, which is why so many schools are trampling each other trying to get in. I guess you don't have to respect that, but I do.

And for what it's worth, I agree on the 16-team conference thing. I'd hate to see that happen. I hope we add one team (ideally Notre Dame) and end it.

Agreed. I am positive that CyPride just throws out those comments and eats it up when people freak out about it, and I have to admit, I do too.

Not much you can do to counter this Madclone. My only question on top of what SH said, is, what if the shoe was on the other foot? What if ISU and Iowa traded places and Iowa was possibly on the outside looking in? Would you still share the same feeling as you do now?

They're secretly anti-Iowa and anti-ISU. Their true allegiance lies with DMACC.
