whats the problem? i don't want another 2 guard who is extremely one dimensional. Lucca could hit the wide open 3, but he couldn't create his own shot, or play defense very well.
Near the end of his NCAA career he started to play better defense. He improved before he left. He even took three pointers with better fakes for opponents. He was almost to the point where he would have helped quite a bit. Then he abruptly left.
Maybe he did not like his classes....maybe the shoes were the wrong fit...maybe the weather was too cold...maybe he wanted to watch from a pro bench rather than play on the court...maybe...
He played defense just fine this year. Last year it stunk.
I guess I just don't understand how you could not want Lucca Staiger on the team next year (a player of his caliber). I understand that you don't want him to start or play more than X minutes in a game but a guy like him.....sign him up
With that said I am hesitant on whether this guy is even as good as Lucca.
Not clear at all. Lucca was a better shooter. Scottie a better ball handler. Neither of them could cover anybody.
SC may be the better player, but he did not show it till the last two games because of mono fallout. In the meantime, our fate was sealed.
Yet, no one struck as much fear for perimeter shooting as Lucca because he was taller, bigger, could shoot it in place, on the move to either side. He was stronger in getting his shot off than SC.
Lucca defense was much better this year in conference. Much better.

agree and the bolded is what has me concerned. I just don't know, if he is worthy of being a 2 guard in the big 12. Originally committed to Pacific, but i wonder if he is good, what has kept other programs of big conferences that are struggling, like us from offering the kid.
Yes, he played them in the first round of the National Prep School Championships.
CIMD- Is Ejim physically ready for the Big 12? I hope so cuz I think we're going to need him to start immediately.

Seriously though that team is stacked with HIGH D1 talent. Ejim should have the easiest transition as any freshmen we have had in a while
Physically he's there, and defensively he's there. Still needs to improve on perimeter skills though. (Namely ballhandling.)
They would give a lot of division one teams a run for their money. Don't forget CJ Fair or Ashton Kahn either.
see, i disagree with this. I don't think he could shoot off the move. Lucca also had a hard time using screens and just couldn't find a way to get open some games. Some shooters are very good at using off the ball screens, jake sullivan comes to mind, Dedric could too. Jake wasn't any quicker or better shooting off the dribble than lucca was, but what separates the 2 is the fact that Jake used screens very well, and also got to the foul line a lot more.

Michael Cooper was thin and could handle the NBA back when Moses Malone & "Chocolate Thunder" Daryl Dawkins and Bill Lambeer were playing.
