Omaha World-Herald article on Klien

It's a reprint of an Ames Tribune article. Anything by Bobby LaGesse or Ben Gouldsmith is a Trib story.

I'll say that I am not worried at all about the starting LBs. I'm worried if one or two of them get hurt, but I think the current starters are going to be solid. Really like Klein's attitude. Him and Knott are already at 237, which are about as heavy as LBs get at ISU. By the time they are SRs, they are going to be pushing 250 and wreaking havoc. I do wonder how many of those FR LBs are going to skip the redshirt though, because there's not much behind our current starters.

Anyone who paid attention last year has to be excited about AJ Klein. The kid was on special teams and was ALWAYS in on the tackle or in the vicinity. He's going to be darn good and I just hope the defensive line is good enough to keep the guards out of his face.

i don't think they have the frame to be 250. At 237 they are about as big as they are going to get. they will improve by getting faster, leaner, and smarter.

Wally likes his linebackers fast and lean. So you are right that weight wont be an issue that they will get to 250, but AJ is still only 18 yo so he will grow some. His body fat was only 7% after POD eval this spring. His body mass will grow with maturity and lifting. He continues to work on speed as does the whole team.
