That is a tough looking line up. Looks like we will need bonus points out of Mitch and Jon for sure in this one. I wish it was on TV. That will be a good match. Go Cyclones!

I am not an expert on college wrestling by any means, but when I saw the title of this thread I thought ISU wins this one pretty easily.

Then I took a look at Cornell's lineup and I have a change in heart. Two No. 1 ranked wrestlers and three others in ranked in the top 10 for Cornell -- plus it is at their place.

What are all of you who follow ISU wrestling, and college wrestling in general, preditictions on this dual meet?
 
DAng. How is Cornell not ranked higher? this will be tough.

ISU will win this.

125: Nickerson by dec 0-3
133: Grey by dec 0-6
141: Dake by major dec 0-10
149: Mueller by dec (could be major) 3-10
157: Sorenson by dec 6-10
165: Reader by dec 9-10
174: Lewnes by major dec 9-14
184: Ward by dec 12-14
197: Varner by major dec 16-14
275: Z by dec 19-14 Cyclones win
 
Hawkeyescott prediction looks good except I expect Fanthorpe to beat Grey. He has been wrestling better and I look for him to finally get a win over a higher ranked wrestler. Also, 125 will be the bout of the meet. Could go either way.

Lastly, don't be surprised if ISU puts Sprangler on the mat at 174.

The dual is broadcast live on SNY. If you have the sports package on Dish or DirecTV you will get it. Channel 639 on DirecTV.

Tough dual for the boys. A key match will be Burk not giving up bonus points. On paper it has disaster written all over it.
 
I'm going to the match this weekend. The funny thing is that Cornell raised the ticket prices for this meet, they cost something like 3 buck more than the others.

133 #13 Nick Fanthorpe vs #7 Mike Grey --- Grey gets the close one 3-3
141 #14 Dalton Jensen vs #1 Kyle Dake --Dake gets major (hopefully not more) 3-7
149 #10 Mitch Mueller vs Hicks Mason --- Mueller wins by decision 6-7
157 Andrew Sorenson vs John Testy-Bastings --I've got sorenson losing this, 6-10
165 #3 Jon Reader vs Justin Kerber -- Reader should get this one easy, 9-10
174 Duke Burk vs #1 Mack Lewnes -- Spangler wrestles, gets decisioned, 9-13
184 #11 Jerome Ward vs #17 Steve Bosak -- Ward gets more aggresive, 12-13

Dont be surprised to see us win at 133. If fanthorpe can keep from getting behind early I think he takes this match. Hes been wrestling better yes but has started off nearly every match slow and lost the big matches. I think he takes this one. The only time I saw Dake wrestle was at national duals. He got put to his back by the kid from Maryland but came back to win it late. He looked good but not great. Hes a true freshman I believe. he could make a mistake and Jensen could catch him... likely??? probably not but if Jensen gets him to his back he will pin him. There wont be any getting out.

Also Nickerson has been banged up. Long needs to beat him now and put some doubt in his mind for a potential match up at nationals.

WOW, just a ton of Big matches at those light wts.

Also, big match for #11 Ward vs #17 Bosak. I hope he comes out aggressive and really takes it to him. Ward is at his best when he is aggressive.

I'll be at the Mizzou at Nebraska - WR match tonight, it will be fun. Don't think I'll wear my ISU stuff, I don't want to be a homer.

Wow! This will be tough! 125, 157, and Duke not getting majored at 174 will be huge matches.
