Post Elite-Camp

I thought we might get a verbal by now. I am concerned we will loose Iverson. McD has a knack for identify talent very early. We haven't been able to land any of the PF and Center talents that he has found early so far (Jon Leuer, Zeller, Breshers, Bergren, etc.). Iverson's recruiting seems to be blowing up. I hope we can land him. I would be frustrated if we lost him to Creighton.

I found a free article on him from "Lobo Land" on Rivals. I tried to insert the link but then it wouldn't open. I "Googled" his name and found it. Sounds like he is being recruited hard by New Mexico, Nebraska, and so me others. The atricle says that he is hearing a lot from other schools. He was at UNM elite camp. He has a connection with one of Alford's assistants. Iverson's dad was a NBA draft pick. I hope we get him but I think a replay of the previous players might occur.

Not sure the staff is interested in Iverson. I don't think he will get an offer from Mac.

Word on the Wisconsin board is that they offered Markolf and he is now headed to Kentucky for a visit. He'll be a hard one to snag as well.

Edit: One other thing to consider, is that Wisconsin only has one more scholarship left for 2008. So no matter if they sign Gibbs or Markolf, hopefully it will put us high on the list for the other.

My son played in a team camp at Southeastern Louisiana over the weekend. The camp included a number of talented teams including Peabody (Alexandria LA), Helen Cox (New Orleans area), Destrehan (New Orleans area), and Christian Life (Baton Rouge).

Greg Monroe was not in attendance for Helen Cox (he was apparently at some Nike sponsored camp) so the class of the tournament was Peabody. They tend to have a couple of DI prospects every year and this year appears to be no different. They had a guard that reminded me of Gary Thompkins from the mid 80s (both in appearance and style of play).

I would really like to see our coaches could open up a pipeline to Louisiana because the HS basketball here is tremendous. After LSU fills its quota there are plenty of kids to go around that end up having success elsewhere...DJ Augustin (Texas), Martin Zeno (Texas Tech), Chris Duhon (Duke), Donald Perry (Indiana), Ryan Francis (USC), etc.

The top guys in the state this year (after Greg Monroe) appear to be Terrance Henry, Storm Warren, and Brandon Moore.

No, Markolf can really help us. Iverson is overrated, hope he goes to Nebraska, so we can beat on him.

Wisc. has 8 players on scholarship that are 6'7" or taller. Included are Berggren, Nankivil and Leuer. I can't see Markoff competing for playing time here, these were all top 100 recruits.
