ESPN Bowl Projections

They, like pretty much every SEC team, are pretty up and down. If they came to play, they probably would kill us. If not, we'd have a shot.

I'd still prefer staying away from this bowl game though.

Georgia has not had a good year and also lost to Oklahoma State like we did. I could see them a.) not being excited to be playing in the Independence Bowl (their expectations were probably quite a bit higher than ours) and b.) overlooking a team like Iowa State.

This game is going to mean a lot more to us than it is one of those two SEC teams. What a great opportunity to pull and upset and get some good exposure out of the deal.

Cough* Cough* ISU vs. Alabama 2001. Nobody gave ISU a chance but yet we almost beat them!

Let's face it, there aren't many teams we are going to like the match up on. We are a 6-6 team that overachieved this year...

This is true -- by definition any bowl team had a pretty good year. We aren't going to be playing Baylor or it's equivalent no matter where we go.

I would love to play a Big Ten school or SEC team. It's time to see where ISU stands against other big conf. teams.

Wasn't there something about Alabama/scholarship issues that came up later too? I thought that they might have had to vacate that win.

Even if true we don't get the win. It is just a disappearing game basically.

I like us against South Carolina. They don't have much for an offense. Out of the SEC, that is likely our best matchup.

Speaking of SEC schools... if i hope and dream enough i think Auburn could land in Schreveport across from the Cyclones... I can't think of any other scenario where i'd spend money to vacation in Louisiana...

I would love to beat on some GameCock... basically an easy win.

Georgia.. will be just like the Alabama match up.... A BIG opportunity and we will need to be VERY prepared... something tells me we will with our ex Auburn coach.

It would litterally be Men vs. Boys if we had to play South Carolina or Georgia..... Could get ugly.

From the hour of reading around the internet I just did, I like Oklahoma State's chances of getting an at-large berth, and because of that our chances of getting to the Insight Bowl. I won't be surprised if we end up in Shreveport, though.

do you regularly beat GameCock?

Which bowl or whom we play is not the big issue here. While I know we'll give any opponent our best shot, we're almost sure to be up against a team with more physical talent than us. The big thing is the extra practice time to help the young guys, especially on D, get ready for next season. And the national exposure to help recruiting. The coaching staff has done a pretty good job of recruiting this year, with almost no help from games being on the tube. Hopefully those last uncommitted big time D line studs will be watching.
