This kid is truly the future of ISU football. Just tough it out with AA for the next year and a half.

Just watch his highlight video from his junior year. The kid has legs like Vick and the strength of an elite college QB. How this kid was not being recruited by bigger name schools, I don't know, maybe he has off the field problems, but he is fundamentally sound.

I'm excited to see him play.

Sometimes players don't end up being what they are hyped up to be.... I think Cyclone fans know that better than anybody

True. But he's not really being hyped at all. This is completely my judgement based on what I've seen from his videos.

Ummmm, no. Did you watch Arnaud or Tiller's videos? Very similar. Not saying he won't be a great quarterback for us, but let's not anoint him just yet.

Players we have anointed recently:

Philip Bates
J.J. Bass
Bo Williams
Webster Patrick

You said in the first post that we should just "tough it out" with AA for the next year and a half, and saying he truly is the future of ISU football... uhm... if that's not hyping him up, I don't know what is. If he can really come in here and beat out Jerome Tiller early, then I'll believe it. Until then, it's all speculation.

From what I understand, his team has been terrible and he was the lone bright spot. He's really making everyone else around him better and the team is actually pretty solid. I think that he's built for the spread.

What would Tiller say to this? We haven't even seen him play a FULL game yet, and people already assume that he can't play.

Also, he seems to be a big playmaker, but I wouldn't call him the next Seneca Wallace just yet. The video says he had a 60% completion average (not bad, but could improve, hopefully this season) and a running average of 5.4 yards per carry. Those are nice numbers, and it depends on the competition level, I'm sure, but they aren't really anything eye-popping.

Numbers don't always mean a whole lot, but some of those plays in the highlight video he makes out of nothing. A lot of times, that's better than having nice numbers. If he can do that at ISU, he'll be a good QB. Time will tell!

Glad he is coming here!

I talked to a guy that watched him when he came up and camped at ISU and he says that he fits PERFECTLY with what Herman is trying to do. Wouldn't be surprised to see him be a 4 year starter after he redshirts

We're years from seeing this guy as "the guy". When he becomes "the guy" we'll be past the OU's and texas on the schedule and be bowl bound every year. Can we just sim to that season?

He is definitely a dual threat QB. He looks like an excellent runner.

He is not very tall, and that probably explains why he doesn't have more offers.

The height doesn't bother me. It hasn't held back Reesing or Daniel.

Very true. I really believe this kid will have a huge impact on our beloved football team though.

I'm one person? Look for anyone else hyping this kid. You won't find any.

One person hyping on CF is how legends are created! :biglaugh:

Anyways, I'm not trying to knock you. It's just that we have anointed our next program saviors on the internet, only to have them be huge busts. Most fans will "believe it, when they see it".

I think he is just saying that it's tough for a true freshman to come in and win the starting job from an upperclassman such as Tiller. I mean we are all having our doubts about Arnaud, his accuracy, and his ability to read through his progressions in this offense now. He's an upperclassman! Plus, Tiller will have been in the offense two years before Barnett is ready to go. That's a big head start for anyone. He would have to be truly something special otherwise!

I disagree. He is nowhere near Vick running the ball. And his arm strength is not great. Tiller has a better arm and better legs than Barnett. I think what the coaches like about Barnett is his accuracy.
