Should Iowa drop out of the Top 25?

Keep it nice.

We came up big when we needed to, but I wouldn't be surprised or feel screwed by the system at all if we dropped out. There's absolutely 25 teams in America better than the one in black and gold today in I.C.

I don't think they should stay in the Top 25. But the top 25 usually isn't determined by teams that have earned their way in, it's really more about perception. I don't think they will drop out, but they should.

Nobody's earned anything at the time preseason polls come out. You're right, it's all about perception. And today proved how wrong perceptions can be. I wish they'd wait until week 3 or 4 for the first poll to come out. Would be much more fair that way.

I agree totally. It seems their perception of teams are usually about 75% right but there is always the teams on the outside looking in that will never be BCS eligible because of the pre-season rankings.

Rankings right now are based on last year. Iowa will drop out as soon as they lose a game. I don't think they will drop out this week because most writers around the country can't follow the details of every team and every game, they only see a W or L.

early season rankings DO matter when it comes to winning a national championship. Auburn went undefeated in 2004, but could not overcome such a low preseason ranking to play in the championship game.

No, I want to beat a top 25 team.

If we beat Iowa, they won't be a Top 25 team so did we actually beat one???

I always go off of end of season ranking. If ISU you beats #22 Iowa in Week 2 and Iowa ends up 80th at the end of the year, ISU beat the 80th best team in the country.
That's how I reason it out in my mind.

it goes down as what the team was rated at the time of the game.

Good overall point but Auburn had 2 undefeated teams in front of them. Utah was also undefeated.

Only two teams play for the NC so someone had to sit out.

:jimlad:Knowing how overrated the Little 11 is, Iowa and Ohio State will probably move up in the rankings.

Good question, I was discussing this during the 2nd half of the game today. I think anyone who watched them play today would not keep them in but so many voters will simply see they won and not drop them.

I'd say it's a coin toss but I would prefer they are ranked for our sake. If I had to guess I think they will stay in simply due to the lack of other teams playing themselves in due to week 1 cupcake opponents.
