Oh, were those mushrooms ever good. He fixes them along with the Bass fish I caught at Okoboji, or maybe it was his fish from Okoboji. We had home grown asparagus and baked potato, plus Banana Amish Bread.....sure made a good meal.
Tomorrow, the mushrooms should be bigger and more of them. We are like small children who are hunting for Easter Eggs with money in them. We don't have a contest on who gets the most because I hate to lose, but it is hard hunting when you walk out your door and there they are. Perfect planning we did when we built our home.

Ever sell any to local restaurants? I've heard they pay well... If you can stand to separate with them...

Good asparagus is hard to beat. Just a little bit of butter and its perfect.

I went hunting Thursday evening with my roommate along the Skunk river north of Ames and didn't find a thing.

Today I went again with my roommate over to a state forest northwest of Boone and didn't find a thing. Also stopped at Don Williams and wouldn't you know it... not a thing!

I thought we'd at least find one! Looking ahead to the forecast... pretty good chances of rain again this week and low-mid 70's for daytime highs should finally be enough to get them going (or so I would think).

I'll probably try again on my birthday (Wednesday).

Sorry you havn't found any.. I looked some more today and could not find anymore that had come up.I think it is still because of cold ground, we need a 75 degree day to get them going. Could be a good year.
