Summer movie season is ramping up with the first big blockbuster of the season, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, opening this Friday. I'm actually excited or at least interested in quite a few movies this year--more than I think I have been for a long time, or maybe even ever...

May 1st: Wolverine
May 8th: Star Trek
May 15th: Angels & Demons (Da Vinci Code sequel)
May 22nd: Terminator Salvation
May 29th: Up (new Pixar movie)
June 5th: Land of the Lost (Will Ferrell)
June 24th: Transformers 2
July 10th: Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen of Borat fame)
July 15th: Harry Potter 6
August 7th: G.I. Joe
August 23rd: Inglourious Basterds (remake of old film directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Brad Pitt)

Just about all of these are sequels or remakes, but I'm still interested in all of them. What movies are all of you interested in seeing this summer?

There are other movies coming besides Transformers 2? :chatterbox:

Actually I'm pretty pumped for Terminator Salvation too.

Terminator Salvation is the one I'm most looking forward to. I really like the story line in all of the movies and even the TV show.

Looking forward to all of them except Harry Potter. Of course my wife is excited for that, so we'll end up seeing it lol

May 15th: Angels & Demons (Da Vinci Code sequel)

Angels & Demons is not a sequel to the Da Vinci Code.... at least the book wasn't since Angels & Demons was written first.

I liked both books very much, actually Angels & Demons more. I'm hoping they do better job on this movie than they did with the Da Vinci Code. It was a good movie but didn't touch the book. I guess that is common though.

I read both and Angels and Demons is much better than Da Vinci Code, I hope the movies are the same way. I am really looking forward to it.

No, the book wasn't a sequel. More like a prequel but I think I heard somewhere that they are making the move more like a sequel.
I saw a trailer where they said something like "the ancient cult found the secret to the universe" which would be way off from the book already. Based on these "facts" and the first movie, I don't have high hopes for this one either.

BTW - Dan Brown has another book in the works. Looking forward to that.

May 1st: Wolverine *
May 8th: Star Trek *
May 15th: Angels & Demons (Da Vinci Code sequel) *

June 24th: Transformers 2
July 15th: Harry Potter 6 *
August 7th: G.I. Joe

Are the ones that trip my trigger. The ones with * are the ones I will probably actually see. (they get stars if I can talk my wife into it). Speaking of her she will rope me into Ice Age 3 more than likely as well.

Harry Potter 6 is gonna be BA. I cannot wait for that movie.

Inglorious Bastards looks sweet too. I don't know what to think of that trailer, especially with B.J. Novak playing a serious role:confused:

The plot of Termonator is just so original and fun. I love it.

I have heard from some people who saw the leaked version of Wolverine that it is a disappointment. Of course, they are uber comic book nerds who are well versed in the minutiae of Wolverine's comic book heritage, but they were still put off by all the liberties the filmmakers took with the story and characters. I will still see it, as I love Wolverine, but I am not holding my breath for a good film.

I am probably most excited for Star Trek and Transformers. I think they are going to rockzorzz.

I would say it's unlikely that I see any of those movies other than Terminator, Star Trek, and HP. Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't get into the summer blockbusters like I used to.

You're both right. The Angels & Demons book was written before The Da Vinci Code. But I've heard Ron Howard say that they treated the film as a sequel to Da Vinci. The stories are mostly unrelated anyway, kind of like the Indiana Jones films, so I guess it's pretty easy to switch them up.

What? Noone is excited for the final chapter of Rob Zombies "Halloween" in August?

A bit OT, but has anyone seen a movie on an UltraScreen?

The closest theater to my house has one, and it's awesome.
The UltraScreens®, with razor sharp three-story tall picture, crystal clear digital sound and comfortable stadium seats are Marcus movie magic at its best.

The UltraView® auditoriums, boast a screen 75 feet wide by 32 feet tall.*

The UltraScreens® take moviegoing to a totally a new level of excitement that can never be experienced at home. The UltraScreens® are more than 500 times bigger than a typical 19”television screen.

It's like a drive-in screen inside!

As low-tech as they are, drive-ins are still a blast. I would love to own one and run it in my retirement.
