2026 Football Targets

Sadly, it appears that the marvelous @NATEizKING did was not so prescient as to map out a 2026 version of the long running series. Alas!

It won’t be done properly, I suppose, but here we are. Could I get a pin please, @Connor_Ferguson?

And to start out with, looks like former Cyclone QB (and current Colorado State Professor) Todd Bandhauer has a son. A very large son. Recently offered.

Coaches getting Technicals

This hit me last night after Terry got teed up. That was 4 straight games where the opposing bench drew at least one technical. Kelvin Sampson got ejected last night (while having a 20 point lead). Here's a link: https://nypost.com/2024/02/07/sports/houstons-kelvin-sampson-storms-court-screams-in-referees-faces/

What is going on?? While not perfect I think Big XII officials are better than most leagues. Are coaches under more pressure? I'm guessing boosters that pay NIL money are more vocal than they used to be. I'd be curious at to anyone else's opinion.

WBB: Cyclones and Iowans Playing Pro Ball

With Stephanie Soares signing her first pro contract I thought I'd open a general thread for our pro players sort of like what we have for the NBA in MBB forum. Leaving it open to include others with state of Iowa connections, either via Iowa schools of originally Iowa HS players. We will also be able to post Olympic teams stuff here for Carleton, and probably Soares to.
  • Stephanie Soares is currently in Brazil with their national team for the Olympic qualifying rounds this being hosted their.
  • Bridget Carleton just signed a two year contract with the Minnesota Lynx. She's played this winter in Spain and is now with Team Canada.
  • Ashley Joens is playing in Italy this winter and suspect she'll maybe get a training camp invite from someone in April.
  • Iowa related: Hawk's Megan Gustafson and Iowa native Kiah Stokes both signed WNBA contracts with the Las Vegas Aces this past week. . Gustafson was playing in England this winter.

live from Austin

Was at the game, I just have to post something.

-lot of Cyclone fans there, I still say Austin is the best place to go to a game, fans are very nice.

-i have been to this arena a lot, it's very nice, but the crowd just blows. While it is way better than what they had, it's just not a very intimating place vs Hilton. It's just very manufactured, nobody has any clue when to make noise, the basketball IQ is so low, they just have no idea.

-be thankful for Hilton everyone, it's so much better than 95% of the places out there, we really are very very spoiled.

-Texas is very, very poorly coached. I cannot stress this enough. I would say they need to make a change, but they will be fine in the SEC, and be an 9 seed every year and they will be stuck with this guy.

-Tyrese has to get out of there, he plays weak, slow, and he's playing off guard, he has to get out this off season, his career is over if he doesn't. If I were him I would go to Kansas. I feel terrible for him, just a really bad basketball decision. Good for money, but he can get money anywhere.

-off the ball we really, really physical with Tyrese but especially Abmas, and it really bothered him. Gilbert gave him a very intentional body check right off the bat and put him on the floor, and then Tamin just crushed him off the ball on the next possession. Both should have been fouls but we got lucky. It was a very very good game plan off the bat. Abmas is just too small to really make a big difference.

-I think there was 1 foul called in the first 10 minutes. We were crazy physical right off the bat.

-Bob has a leg injury in the 2nd half, I don't know if it was a cramp or what, but he couldn't guard anyone, and was really hurting us, and Texas knew it. they should have fouled him honestly. This is not an anti Rob thing, the kid was injured and he needed to be taken out. It really was obvious at the game, I have no idea what was going on there. He even came back in after a timeout. It was crazy to watch in real time.

-I have no idea what that T was for, the Texas announcer was horiffic, half the time he just didn't announce anything.

-the game was officiated very very different from 1H to the 2H.

-the game really should not have been nearly as close as it was, we have by far and away a better team, but a great road win either way.

-we are not very good in the half court with a lead, it is what it is right now. the first half was about as good as a half as I can remember for any Iowa State team, simply awesome. the 2h, ehhhhh.....but it was enough!!!!

Go Clones!

Missing lake returns

Big 12 did not formally grade officials until this year apparently.

Passing along an article I seen about the Drew ejection- a memo sent out that was obtained by CBS Sports. Memo emphasizes bench decorum and coaching out of the box. Later on in the article it talks about the Big 12 not formally grade officials.
